Four Months Post-Op!

Jul 24, 2009

Holy moses! Time just really flies by...seems crazy that it's been four whole months already. I'm loving my sleeve!!! I look great, but more importantly I FEEL great. Everything is easier and takes less effort when you have 60-some pounds less to lug around with you!

I've been experiencing quite a few Non-Scale Victories lately...
Movie-Theater Seats: I can finally just sit down normally in them and have extra room around my hips, whereas before I had to do the "sit on the very edge and slide your ass back into the chair" thing.
Clothing: I can wear jeans from Old Navy! Hallelujah!! It's so great to be able to walk into a normal store like that and wear things from the regular line, not the plus-size line! The jeans in my "16 Weeks Post-Op" pictures are a new pair I got from ON. Also, that shirt is a Large from Old Navy. A freaking Large!! Never in my life did I think I would be in a Large. It's amazing!
Men: I definitely get more glances. I got hit on the other day at Sam's Club. First time ever. I was dumbfounded, but I felt like hot stuff, haha! Also, a guy I dated last winter (when I was 60-some pounds heavier) saw me the other day and said, "Damn...I really made a mistake." I said, "Yes, you sure did," and kept walking. Lol. Felt SOOOO good!!
Car/Steering Wheel: I can finally get in and out of the car without having to adjust the steering wheel.
Crossing Legs: I can cross my legs like a dainty woman and actually keep them there comfortably! I love it!

There are so many more little things that I realize every day, and I think to myself, "Oh my gosh...I couldn't do this before!!" Makes me excited to see what another 60-some pounds will do!

In the middle of June, about 3 months out, I did start having some terrible pain in my upper-left abdomen. I called my doctor's nurse about it, and she said to come in right away. They did an EGD, and it turns out that it was a stomach ulcer! The doctor cauterized it while he was in my stomach with the EGD, and all was well. He gave me Protonix and I feel great now. Amazing what a tiny little ulcer will do, though.

I finished Massage Therapy school on June 25th. I'm moving closer to home in two days! A lot of stuff and 180 miles. Ugh! Haha. But I'm so excited! I'll be starting my own Massage Therapy business. I'll still work in a salon as a Cosmetologist part-time. Things should be interesting over the next few months. So exciting, though!
