My story is just like many others here. I was overweight from childhood and struggled with my weight more and more with each passing year. Finally, in 2012 at the age of 30, I decided to start researching weight loss surgery. Initially I was looking to have the RNY performed, however after meeting my surgeon and going over some blood work, we decided that the VSG would be the best option for me. After 7 long months (doing research and going through the entire process to get surgery), I had my VSG on May 28th, 2013! Since then I've not looked back! I am now 4 years post-op, 150+ lbs lighter, and still happily maintaining my weight loss! I am always happy make new VSG buddies and to discuss my surgery with anyone who has questions or concerns!
