I'm a 41 year old who three years ago was diagnosed with Graves disease and my life turned upside down. I now have sleep apnea, arthritis, and am prediabetic.   I had my thyroid removed in March of 2004, they are still having one hell of a time regulation my thyroid, and because of this, I've gained over 70 pounds. While I had undiagnosed Graves, I lost over 65 pounds without even trying, so the gaining weight was very devistating. Then in 2005, I had orbital decompression surgrey on both eyes. Pictures are to the left. I have been through the wringer and just want a normal life. I decided on WLS about a year ago, and have researched ALL my options, at this point, I am VERY comfortable with my decision. I have met so many wonderful people on this site and read so many stories, I am no longer afraid and am excited to see what my journey holds for me!

LIST OF REASONS I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT (a work in progress)
To be able to vacuum the house without my back aching  (done)
To be able to get down on the floor for something and it not kill me to get back up!
(done)
My knees to stop hurting (done)
To stop using my CPAP machine (done)
I want to be able to clean house in my husbands boxers! (done)
I'd like to be able to wear tank tops in the summer. (done)
To shop in normal clothing stores. (done)
Have my bath towel completely go around me
Walk a flight of stairs without getting winded
(done)
Cross my legs like a lady (done)
Recognize the face in the mirror looking back at me (done)
Be able to wear a ball cap and not feel like I have a "fat head"
Not have a size 10 finger
(done)
To be able to buy shoes my size, and not wides! (done)
To have well defined arms
Lacy bras and drillies from Victoria Secret
(done)
High heels, strappy sandals (done)
Chase my grandchildren (done)
Wear pants that DON'T have elastic in the friggin' waist! (done)
Sit in the chairs at our weekly staff meeting and not feel like the heaviest, most uncomfortable one there! (done)
Stop always tugging on my shirt to "cover" my ass. Like that really works, why do fat people think if they wear big baggy shirts and tug on them all day, no one can see how fat we are! (done)

Here are some pictures of me over the years, some fat, some not so fat.
