Almost cancelled today
Jan 04, 2017
My surgery is on the 9th. This is the second time I've schedule it. I also scheduled twice with another doctor. Cancelled each time. The reason always the same. Why am I mutiliating my body to do this? The diet and exercise regime are intense, so why not do it on your own without removing your stomach? My husband doesn't want me to do this. We are fortunate that we have the means to hire professionals to help with exercise training and food prep. Had my education session today and it was awkward. One poor guy could barely move, was accompanied by his brother who had the surgery 7 years ago and lost 190 pounds. He dominated the conversation. However, his entire family had surgery and all had lost immense amounts of weight. The nurse had the surgery in 2001, as has every nurse in the practice. She lost 190 pounds. She said she'd regained lately and was now on Weight Watchers (huh?). Same story with her husband (gained 40). Actually, they'd all had the bypass surgery. All had the same doctor. Then I started to think, am I doing the wrong surgery, did I choose the wrong doctor? My nurse called me and talked me down a bit, but still feeling very ambivalent.
Would love some perspective. Thanks in advance.
