I am 36 years old and live in the Nashville area. I am currently in the process of getting a divorce from my husband of 17 years. I am the mother of two boys, ages 15 and 10. I am the Office Administrator for a local dental practice. Okay....enough of the boring stuff.
I have been overweight my entire life. I can't remember a time when I didn't consider myself "chubby". Although, looking back, I was not near as overweight as I felt. When I was 14 my older sister was killed in a car accident. I have always felt that I dealt with that situation pretty good, but I can also see that it was around that time that I began to really struggle with my weight. I had SOME success my senior year of high school losing weight, but the Freshman 15 was more like the Freshman 30.
I got married at 18 years old and had my first son when I was 20. I gained about 40 lbs with each pregnancy, but only lost about 20 after delivery. My weight has gradually increased every year, but has seemed to plateau the past 5-6 years.
I am 5'4" and currently weigh 300 lbs (heaviest was 309 lbs). I wanted to have
WLS three years ago, but my ex-husband wanted me to wait a few more years to see if I could do it on my own.
So, here I am.......beginning this journey on my own. I am very fortunate to have the support of my parents and friends. And I am really excited about my future.
