Wow, its been a long time hasn't it, things have been crazy.  Surgery wise, I am 6 months out now and have lost 102 pounds.  I am at 210, down from 312, in a size 20 (XL) down from a 32/34W (4X).  I have been doing fairly well getting in all I need to, but my hair is really thinning and that really bothers me, I haven't been getting much exercise, been working swing shift, so that just wears me out.  I still can't eat lettuce which bites because I love salad.  I'm having a horrible time finding bras, I am down from a 48C to a 38 AA, it bites, but my man still like them, lol,

On to my personal life, my divorce is slowly moving along, I'm working so I can get out of here faster.  I am still seeing Jesse, we've been together for 7 months now, I love him, but I am really taking things slow with this relationship.

Well, I'll try not to be gone so long, lol

Well I am 9 days post op now, and at 275 lbs.  That is a total of 37lbs down from my highest.  Surgery went much better than expected and I had very little pain.  Eating kinda sucks, I'm sure I'm not getting in everything I need to.

Well, I guess I should be a little more prompt in updating.  I got approved last Friday & I am scheduled for surgery on January 15th.  Things have been crazy here at home so I am just hoping I can get through this. 

I guess I haven't updated in a bit, things are going fast.  I had my psych eval. on the 20th, I'm not psycho, yay!  So they scheduled me with the surgeon this Thursday.  I also had my 2nd sleep study with the CPAP.  I could not handle the CPAP, so I am going to discuss it with Dr. Christopherson and see if I can forgoe that.  Anyways I'll update again after I see the doc on Thurs.

I heard from the nurse at the hospital today, my sleep study results came back with moderate apnea so I go back next Friday for the sleep study with the CPAP.

Well, it has really been a whirlwind lately, my husband got his open enrollment papers from work for insurance & lucky us next year bariatric surgery is excluded at all but 4 hospitals in Iowa.  So I had 2 options, get the surgery done before the end of the year or go to another hospital further away.  After talking to the nurse manager at the bariatric center we decided we'd speed things up & get it done this year.  Today we were approved for a personal loan to pay our OOP.  I had my sleep study last Friday & then next Monday I will have my psych eval.  Right now they are getting everything together to submit to my insurance for approval.  I'm pretty nervous because things are going so fast now, but it looks like I will have a life changing Christmas gift!

Today I met with the financial coordinator, dietician & briefly with the surgeon.

I saw the financial coordinator & she said our out of pocket expenses would be about $3000, but we would more than likely pay less because they include some of the things at full price assuming that the insurance wouldn't pay, but if the insurance does pay we would get a refund.

Then I briefly met with the surgeon to discuss having my tubes tied during the WLS, he said that was fine & wanted me to choose a Dr. to do the procedeure, I chose Dr. Gellhaus which is the Dr. that delivered my  daughter.

I met with the dietician and we discussed my eating habits now and what they would be like afterward and how she wants me to try to reduce my portion sizes & eat 3 meals a day, etc... etc...  I will go back to see her the first week of December.  She also gave me some samples of protein drinks to try.  

Well, I had my 1st real appt today with the nurse at our bariatric center, it was funny, I think I know more than she does, I was asking her about the Fobi pouch & she didn't even know what it was.  Anyways the appt was less than what I expected, she didn't even really touch on my medical records too much, she did say that they will probably do a sleep study for sleep apnea & more than likely I will have to have a CPAP   I don't really like the idea of being hooked up to a machine, but if it will help be get a better nights sleep then bring it on!  They took my height & weight and I'm shorter than I thought, so that brings my BMI up even more   Next Tuesday I see the dietician & then on to the psych eval, yay, lol.

On the bad side I went out to buy a winter coat today because the one I got 2 years ago doesn't even cover my belly, I tried a size 3X Columbia coat, it wouldn't even go around me, let alone zip, well I just thought it might be the brand, but none of the other size 3X coats fit me either, not even a mens.  So I had to buy a size 4X mens coat   Gosh I knew I gained 10lbs since I have been off my Metformin, but I didn't think that'd take me up a whole coat size.  Oh well, next year hopefully I will fit in a nice normal sized coat.

Well, everything with the OB/GYN turned out well, my IUD is still in place after having to have an ultrasound to find it.  My OB/GYN sent me to the RE while I was there since I did not reschedule my last appt. with him like I was supposed to.  We discussed what course of action we would take as far as my PCOS & IR.  He tried putting me on Metformin & the pill again, but I refused after the problems I had with them in the past.  I explained to him about the WLS and he said that this would be a good thing since 80% of women with PCOS have no symtoms anymore after having WLS.  He did my regular lab work though & wants me back in 6 weeks to discuss my labs.  I can't wait until the day that PCOS no longer complicates my life.
