Two month check up

Jan 24, 2008

Since surgery I've had problems with my incision leaking. The medicos are not worried about it. Dr Tishler says it's because of the amount of surgeries I've had on this very same line. Okay, if he's not worried I'm not either. Finally it's down to just one little tiny spot, small enough for a small band-aid. At first I was wearing maxi-pads on it. Great absorbtion on those things, and plastic backed for clothing protection!! Whoda thunk that I'd be wearing a maxi-pad 8 years after a hysterectomy!! I want to get back to the gym, they have a great water-aerobics class there, but can't do that until this final little leak has completely healed up.

Anyway, my 2 month check up today. I was disappointed because in the 6 week since my last check up I've only lost another 7 pounds. I did go through a 3 week stall though. Also, because I'm considered a light-weight, and I've always been a slow loser, I kinda expected it. Still, I can't help being a little down over it.

On a brighter note, I've discovered a protein supplement that I can tolerate. It's made with goat whey instead. It's expensive, but it tastes very good mixed with milk.

Four weeks out

Dec 24, 2007

It was hard at first. No food was good.  Scrambled egg with cheese was my staple for the first few days, then I moved onto deli turkey, tuna and other fish, soy burgers, string cheese etc. I also learned about the wonderful cottage cheese pancakes.

I've suffered from a lot of nausea, not too bad at first, but it got worse day by day. Then I discovered that it was the whey protein supplements making me feel that way. I tried, because I know that protein is so important, but it was no good. I was sitting there drinking one of the EAS low carb shakes and I could feel the nausea creeping up. Unfortunately, as I'd already finished the drink I had to wait hours before it was out of my system. During that day I developed a very close and personal relationship with the bowl!! After that I decided that I was going to get my protein with real food. Let's see how that goes. On a good note, I'm finding it easier to get in the water now.

Two week check up

Dec 10, 2007

My two week check up. Dr Tishler very happy with my loss. I'm down to 237 pounds....YAY!! He gave me the all clear to eat anything but red meat, or raw or fibrous vegetables and fruit.

My incision is leaking badly. Dr Tishler doesn't put drains in, he doesn't like foreign bodies in incisions. So, I have to wear padding. Yuk... He says it could last another 4 weeks or so. I hope not, I have to go back to work on January 2nd.

So far

Dec 04, 2007

I started this at 266 pounds. During the 10 day pre-op liquid diet I lost about 13 of those evil pounds. During surgery I gained some, but that's to be expected with all the fluids they pumped into me. However, today, one week after the surgery, I am back down to my pre-surgery weight.
