Just a quick update...
Jun 05, 2007
Things are going GREAT these days.. Down to 235 and the weight loss is slowing a little bit, actually to where it should be at this stage of the game.
Waist has dropped from a very snug 44 (can we really say 46? haha) to a loose 38 (about to be a 36). All my clothes are fitting me now and even getting too large for me, but I am not complaining at all..
I have received so many compliments and well wishes and I truly appreciate each and every one of you for your support.
Do have a story to share, the other night I was eating dinner and an old friend called up to say that she had gotten “all caught up” on me and my progress. It was so good to hear from her. We used to be so close and drifted apart over the years since I moved to Atlanta. I still consider her a dear friend and must make it a point to keep in better contact.
I have made a lot of changes since last October when i made the decision to have this surgery. My life has truly slowed down and now I can enjoy the fruits of my labor. I can go fishing again, I can go to the park, take a weekend off and get away from it all, just ride in the mountains in my beemer and most importantly - ENJOY LIFE.. I now control my life, it no longer cotrols me.
The nay-sayers who were totally against me having this procedure are eating their words now. Not meaning that in a bad way.. I am happy I am healthy and so are they. They were just worried about me and I know that.
All in all, life is good nad things are going GREAT.. Till I post again, bless you all.

My 1st Complication..
May 17, 2007
Thinking it could be a hernia, I scheduled an appt to see the good doctor and that is next Monday at 3PM.
The area that was hurting was beginning to get irritated by my shirt rubbing against it and was turing reddish in color around the incision site. I thought there could possibly be an infection at this point. I placed a bandage over it so that it would not get overly irritated and left it at that.
Okay folks, gonna get gross here... Tuesday night I went to replace the bandage and when i took the bandage off, the flood gates opened up. There was a large rush of infection, blood and clear fluid. Very nasty and messy. I immediately went back to my days as an EMT and right then I realized EVERYTHING needed to go sterile.. I put the gloves on and broke out the big first aid kit. NOTHING unsterile was about to touch me at this point.
For over an hour I wiped and cleaned the area and more and more "stuff" came out. After it was done, it felt 100% better.. No more pressure at all..
I cleaned it very well and bandaged the area up nicely and have been checking it every night to see if anything has changed.
I called the docs office and told them what happened and since I am not running a fever, no pain, dosomfort or redness I decided to keep my appt at next Monday at 3PM.. No need to run in if it is not needed.
A little scary, but nothing I was truly worried about..
Complication #1, complete!! :-)

31 POUNDS GONE FOREVER......
11 Days Post-Op & 28 Pounds Down
Mar 28, 2007
All I can say is WOW!
Only eleven days post-op and already lost 28 pounds. Clothes are already fitting better and seeing a difference in my face.
The eating is somewhat a “bore” to me as I am on an all liquid diet for a few weeks so that my new stomach (pouch) has time to heal properly. I can now eat mashed potatoes and that was a nice contrast in texture. Cannot wait to add a steak to those potatoes though.. LOL
I should be honest and admit that this is not that hard at all. I have no “real” hunger and when I do get my soup in, I am quite satisfied.
The journey has now started and I am so damn excited that I cannot hold it all in. This first twenty-eight pounds is just the starting line. Over the next few months, the weight will continue to melt away and I cannot wait until the day I can stand in front of a mirror and look at a 190 pound me..
Until next time, the journey continues……..
