I am not crazy..

Just kidding.. Met with the Psychologist for the presurgical evaluation on Wednesday, January 31st, and everything went very well.

In addition, the Nutritional Counseling Session with North Fulton Bariatrics has been scheduled and will be held on 02/13/2006. I will report on that after it has been completed.

I received a phone call last night from Dr. William’s office with the best news of all.. I have been approved for my surgery.. Now I have lot’s to think and talk about as this bridge has now been crossed and time to truly make that decision.

Due to company travel I had to cancel my scheduled Psych and Nutrional Evals on 1/23/07 and will be rescheduling those very soon.

My heart is truly full because of all of the support I am receiving in my decision to move forward with this procedure.

My mom, dad and stepdad have both been very uplifting and realize it is a healthy move to do this.

• Mom & John: You were both worried about all off this before you had your unexpected heart issues. You realized afterwards that this is something that needs to happen. It is time to be more aggressive.

Gabe, what would I do without you? You have been my “listening ear” and my lifeline the past few months and your support means more than you will ever ever ever know..

My co-workers have been the best!!! They are worried and that I can understand. However, the support is so great. I could not ask for anything more from either of them. What a great group of people I work with.

• Ellen, thanks for simply listening and being so supportive. That means more to me than you will ever know.
• Shaundra, what else can I say? You are truly THE BEST.. You are concerned and that I know.. However, you are truly supportive with me through this decision.

My friends and family, you all have been so understanding and your concern is genuine. However, you all have given me nothing but support thus far and I truly appreciate that more than you will ever know. 

There is still a lot more to go through before this is all said and done. However, I will get there. With this kind of support, how in the hell could I fail?

Received a call this morning confirming that Dr. William’s office (the surgeon) submitted the letter of request for approval for the procedure to my insurance company last Friday (01/12/2007).

 Now the waiting truly has begun………….

I received a call Friday (01/12/07) from a nice lady at the office of the Psych, who will be performing my Psych Eval, and was advised she had called my insurance company and was advised the WLS (weight loss surgery) was not covered under my policy.

Well, I got on the phone and called both the surgeons office and my insurance company. For those of you that know me - you know this is something I would do without even thinking about it. I wanted to know what was up. Apparently she spoke to someone that gave her wrong information because the insurance company verified with me that is is covered. The surgeon’s office verified as well. And then yesterday, I got a call form the Psych’s office and she confirmed the same.

Bump One Hit… BUT!! We are back on track..

I received a call today from my coordinator at North Fulton Regional Hospital and my Psych & Nutritional Evaluations have been scheduled for Tuesday, January 23rd 2007, at 8AM!

All is looking up thus far..

On Wednesday, 1/10/7 at 9AM est, I visited the office of Dr. Michael Williams for my initial consultation with the surgeon and his staff.

 They were absolutely PHENOMINAL!! The nurse grilled me (as she should have) and so did the good doctor. I have to say that I went in a little nervous and when i found out that the nurse had the surgery a few years back, I was BLOWN AWAY! She was so beautiful!! And what can I say about Dr. Williams? He made me feel so comfortable and after talking with him, I knew I was making the correct decision.

We decided that I would have the procedure performed at Norht Fulton Regional Hospital in Alpharetta (date not yet set). I was told I have two things I will need to complete prior to the surgery being scheduled. I will need both a Psych and Nutrional Evaluation.

They said that a letter would be sent to the insurance company by Friday (today) requesting approval for the surgery. It can take up to a month to receive a reply.

Now the wait BEGINS!!

1/3/2007: I recieved a call today from the office coordinator for my surgeon and was advised that they did confirm my insurance does cover this procedure. We scheduled my consultation for Monday, 1/8/2007 @ 9:00 AM EST..

Next steps, post the consultation, will be:

1. Submit letter of request to my insurance company
2. Schedule surgery date
3. Attend the Pre-Op appointment
4. Have the surgery
5. Lose the weight and get healthy

On 12/20/2006: I contacted a well respected and highly recommended baraitric surgeon in my immediate area and requested a consultation. They in turn forwarded me a packet of documents to complete and return to them to get the process started.
