My name is Kevin. I am 41,married to the best wife possible, and live in Philadelphia. I have worked in healhcare for almost 24 years now.

I have had this weight problem forever-this is my Cross to bear.

It has effected every aspect of my life.Physically, I have developed high blood pressure, Diabetes, venous stasis(leg edema), back pain, foot and knee problems. The whole bag of horrors. I have attempted virtually every diet program out there, lost weight, gained weight, lost some of the weight, gained more back(You get the idea).

It is sometimes so hard to have people understand what a battle this really is. And the toll it takes. The world just sees an obese person and may wonder why he doesn't do something about it. Anyone who knows me though is well aware how I have fought this fight to the best of my ability. I have the best home gym in the City of Philadelphia. A Landice treadmill with a 500 pound capacity, a Diamondback bike, a NordicTrack Cross-Country Skier, and a BowFlex home gym. But I just cannot control how much food I put in this mouth of mine. So I have researched WLS for many years now, and have always felt that it should truly be a choice of last resort. Well, I have come to that decision and on February 27,2007 I will be having a LAP RNY to start to put and end to this destructive disease called obesity.

The one thing I do regret is knowing too much at what goes on in a hospital and what can go terribly wrong with surgery patients who are not morbidly obese! So I'm kind of envious of so many of the people here who are so excited about having their surgery and are truly happy about it. I wish I didn't know what I do so I could be as excited at this point, so I have had to learn to focus on the after effects of the surgery and not on the event.

I go on February 12,2007 for my PAT's. I picked the Barix Clinic in Langhorne based on Dr Brader and the clinics reputation at this website. And I had one stipulation about the surgeon. I had to like the surgeon at least a little on a personal level. Working in a hospital my entire career I know how difficult this can be. I immediately liked Dr Brader so I know this is the MAN!

I am very thankful to find this website and I must thanks Jim G for his immediate support since I didn't know how this site worked.

I will continue to post as I have time.
