I just spoke to Karee on the phone--she is feeling so much better! She is now passing gas and using the bathroom with no difficulties. Her heart rate is down, she has no fever, and has been allowed to resume liquids again. She still expects to be released tomorrow. She is doing such a great job of walking, too!

I visited Karee again tonight. She wasn't feeling so well. She has a buildup of gas under her incision that they are concerned about since she isn't passing it yet. She had also been instructed by the people in the Recovery area for some reason not to use her CPAP machine, so Dr. Murr was not very happy when he found out about that. Her heart rate has been elevated as well. Currently she is NPO (nothing by mouth) due to the gas issue as they don't want any extra pressure to build up, but she is hoping to be released on Sunday.

I saw Karee this evening, at last! She did not get to have a distal RNY as planned, as she had scarring on her liver, so she was understandably disappointed about that. She also had a slight fever but other than that seemed to be in good spirits and looked great. She had been up and walking as well--good job, Karee!
