I am a 40-something woman that was fat, heavy, overweight, obese, morbidly obese, super morbidly obese for most of my life.

I have dieted at least a quarter of my adult life.  I have starved myself, eaten only cabbage soup for a week, eaten only fruit for a month, popped pills to curb my appetite, filled myself with fiber, cut out carbs, swallowed pills that gave me "treatment effects", joined WW about 40 times, and attended an Overeaters Anonymous meeting that was so cult-like that it scared the krap outta me.

The bottom line is that I tried it all, my successes were short lived, and I ended up gaining more and more weight over the years!  My highest weight was 356 pounds and I know that I was within pounds of being immobile.

On Monday, September 14, 2009, I had an open RNY and my gallbladder removed.  My surgery was textbook - I had no complications whatsoever.  And my recovery was as smooth as silk!

My having RNY surgery is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life!  I have lost a tremendous amount of weight, but, more importantly, I have gained self-confidence and I am learning to feel at peace with my body.
