First Thanksgiving

Nov 24, 2009

Okay, well maybe not my FIRST but it is my first after gastric bypass.  I have been gearing up for this all week because I know there will be some challenges with what I can eat and what I cannot.  It is okay, I think I have it under control!  My concern was not changing family traditions to affect everyone else.  I assured family and friends who will be joining us to bring what they want, prepared the way they want to prepare it and I know my limits.  I can do this!

I have also been mentally preparing for the grilling I will receive when I go to my husband's family get together.  My mother and father-in-law know all about the surgery and keep up with the changes, but I did not tell my brother and sister-in-law.  It should be interesting!  I don't have to defend my decisions, right?  It was the best thing I could do for myself to insure I would be around to take care of my children and my family.  I eat right and I exercise.  There, I said it so now I am ready to face them...

May the peace of Thanksgiving find you!
