Amazing

Dec 08, 2014

I am over half way now. Almost 110 lbs down! 133 from my highest weight ever. Dealing with the excess skin now and trying to find clothing that fits and supports. Enjoying my workouts and new lifestyle, hoping to help others find their weight loss success too.

12 Weeks Post Op - Update

Aug 17, 2014

Well, here I am 12 post op/15 post opti-fast and am down 67 pounds since I began this journey.  Down approximately 90 overall from my highest ever.  Feeling differences in my clothing, but still contending with body images. It's been a challenge to realize that I am not the 300+ pound obese girl, searching for one item to fit off the rack and adjusting to it's ok to buy something in the NOT plus sized section.  Still an abnormal feeling to me.  Something to get used to, but a happy accomplishment.  The physical transformations are happening quickly, the mental aspects take longer.  Body image swtiching from the obese girl, to the obese girl with flabby skin.... Something I will have to work through.  Few challenges along the way.  Intolerant to a lot of foods, it may be temporary ... I hope.  I don't mind not being able to tolerate the high fatty or sugary foods... in fact I hope I can't tolerate them.  I would, however, like tot tolerate items other than the 2 or 3 items I can tolerate now. [ Chili/meat sauce, greek yogurt (and only greek), and a little bit of potato (very small amount) seems to be ok.] Nothing else is tolerated. I do put beans and protein powder into my chili and that is tolerated, so I am getting my proteins. Beyond that, the RNY surgery is doing what it was supposed to do... melting the pounds off me. Yay...

Thanks for following my journey... anyone who's been reading these...stay tuned for further updates soon :D

My little bear is moving!

Aug 11, 2014

11 weeks since I took the plunge and got the roux-en Y procedure done and am now down 64 lbs.  Still got a bit to go, but it's going pretty quickly and am glad about that. Still working on the energy and trying to save the hair. Also feeling a bit weird about the new shar pei look... oh well, one thing at a time. :D

5 1/2 weeks post op

Jul 03, 2014

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything.

Since May 5th, (Opti) I have lost a total of 36 pounds, plus 10 I did on my own before that for a total of 46. Nearing the 50 lb mark.  Little frustrated, since it seems to be slower than most.  I did get an ulcer and have incurred some unexpected stress levels in my life which I think might be hindering the process, but it is still coming off, so I guess that's good.  Noticing things more, like my collar bones, pants falling down, found ankles etc... so it is coming off.  Now learning to accept the transition.  It was harder than I thought. THought losing weight would make me excited, but instead has made me nervous.  Don't even think that makes sense... but carrying on.

Thanks for stopping by.

Well, it's been a month since I started the opti and 9 days since surgery.  Overall 29 lbs down for the month... + the 10 I worked on before the optifast. Total so far is 39.  One pound off of a rounded 40, but hey.... I will take it.  The little bear is walking in the right direction!! YAY :D

One week to go!

May 19, 2014

I have done all the steps to date and am currently down 24 lbs.  The Roux EN Y procedure is one week away!

Just 23 more shakes to go (Optifast).  I have spent this time gathering low carb/no carb and high protein recipes .... Lots of alternatives to previously loved foods.  Got all my aids to get me through the first month post op.  Vitamins, minerals, supplements, and foods... Still a long way to go, but for the first time ever, I am confident that this is going to work.  Temptations have been EVERYWHERE!!!  But I haven't given in.

I do, however, have my 2 cups of veggies... no matter what!

I do a shake at breakfast, one at lunch, a salad at about 3, a shake and steamed veggies at dinner, and my nighttime shake.  Keeps me fairly satisfied. It's been hard giving up the 'snacking' mindset.  So prone to doing that before, but so far, so good.

One week from now I will be post op and on the road to a new chapter and maybe even book, in my life. Lots of things transpiring for change in my world, but all seem to be for the good... but in no way has it been easy.  This is not an easy decision or transition, but one I feel will be an essential in the next phase of my life.  First 22 years of life were complicated, but fit.  Last 22 were a mess.... but there were plenty of joys... but pounds are here now and it's time for them to go.  Next 22 and 44 years are a new book....and this transition is the beginning of that journey.

:D

The Journey Begins

Apr 18, 2014

Hello readers,

I began the journey to have the WLS (RNY) when I went to see my doctor in August of 2013.  I went to the info session in February, met surgeon Dr. Starr in March, and have recently seen the internist Dr. Glazer, who gave me a green light.  My only 'issue' was my vitamin D... so got to top that up. That's fine and doable.

Retrospectively, I know HOW I got here and know the challenges I have had getting back to who I was 20 years ago.  While I don't expect to be in my 20's again, I would like to find SOME of the person I once was.  I loved being active and fit, now it's just a chore.  But am making strides to change this.

In January I weighed 326 lbs... just before I had an ablation surgery done.  In February, I gave up caffeine and pop 100%, started training my body for the new diet, and began increasing my activity level.   I know I have lost some... but not exactly sure how much. My bathroom scale sucks... but I know it's going down. I know it mostly in my clothing (especially the underwear.. got to keep pulling them up) and people have noticed it ... so I am happy for that.  Just got to keep going.

Today I am going to my first WLS meeting and can't wait to see what's next.

That's it for now... thank you for pausing at my Journey blog.

Kim. :D
