12/06/2007 - Birthday Reflections
Dec 05, 2007
So my birthday was a few days ago on December 2nd. I'm now 37 years old. Sigh. It's OK though. I'm going to claim 29 and holding maybe. LOL.
One good thing is I reached goal on my birthday. I've had that lower goal in mind, but officially I set 135 as my goal and on the morning of the 2nd I weighed in at 134.5. I don't even know how I feel about that at all. Weird mostly. So I guess now I'm saying 130 will be my new goal and we'll see if I meet that one.
My friend showed me a picture of us from a couple of years ago. She said it was weird for her too, because she doesn't really remember me being that big. It was strange to look at. I don't remember ever seeing myself as that big either, but there it was in print. I didn't even look like the same person I am now. Very strange.
So now none of my clothes fit. Not even the new ones I've bought. I'm still completely broke, so no way to go buy any new ones. Might hit the goodwill again soon.
A coworker of mine had surgery on Tuesday at my same surgeon's office and hospital. Different surgeon though. I went to see him that afternoon. It was strange being up in the bariatric floor again too. I spoke with the nurse a bit. We also had the annual St. Vincent's holiday party, which I attended that same day with my daughter. It was a nice way to reflect on the blessings of the past year. Amazing how far I feel like I've come in not quite, but almost 7 months.
I'll try to do some pictures next week when I get to that 7 month anniversary date. Will be interesting.

11/13/2007 - Six months (and a couple of days)
Nov 13, 2007
Holy cow. I can't believe I'm finally below 140. This morning the official weigh-in was 138 pounds. At my recent six month appointment, the dietitian told me she didn't think I needed to lose any more weight, and that I should start eating to maintain. I'm not ready to stop yet. At that point I was still in the 140s and I wanted to at least get to the 130s first. I spoke with the Nurse Practitioner and she said I could go to the low 130's but anything less than that would be too low for my height. My goal has been 135, but I've always thought I'd really like to go into the 120s, but I just haven't been sure what I would look like at that weight or if I would be able to get that low or maintain that low of a weight. I'm thinking I may adjust my goal to 130, and then just see if/when I reach that goal. I need to do better about exercising though, and I really need to start doing some weight training. I have enjoyed the running, although it makes my right knee hurt. I have one more trail run I'm going to try to do this weekend, if I can scrounge up the entrance fee. But I need to join the gym. The problem with that is mainly money too. I hate having such a dang tight budget. We have one and a half car payments left and things will be a little easier after that.
I guess not a whole lot else to report re: weight loss issues. Still plugging away and trying to lose somewhere between 3 to 8 more pounds, and then we'll have to see after that. It's so weird being this close to goal. I never thought I'd get here.

8/14/07 - Yet another recipe...
Aug 14, 2007
1 small carton of egg beaters
1 cup low fat monteray jack cheese
4 oz of ham diced
2 oz onion chopped
2 oz green pepper chopped
1 cup broccoli tops chopped
salt and pepper, garlic powder to taste
Nuke the veggies with some water in the microwave for a couple mins first then mix all together and pour into a muffin pan that has been sprayed with pam. Bake for 30 mins. They can be frozen and nice for "protein meals on the go".
Calories 72, protein 9, carbs 2, fats 3 per muffin.
Sometimes I eat one with some fruit other times I just have 2 and fills me perfectly. I am 8 months out.

Jul 11, 2007
So I'm feeling much happier than I was a couple of months ago, and again, today was just a very good day for me. I took some new pictures as well, and I'll post them on my profile here in a bit. When I compare them to my before pics I can really start to see a difference when I look at them.
So I'll just keep plugging away!!

7/9/07 - Another recipe to try...
Jul 08, 2007
Melted 2 cups of LF peanut butter in the microwave. Added 2-3 scoops of chocolate protein powder and 2 tbsp of Vanilla extract. Then add 4 cups of Rice Crispies to the wet stuff and spread in a baking pan. Stick them in the freezer until cool. These will melt in your mouth and are a great treat! Just need a small square as they are filling! You can keep them wrapped in the freezer after slicing for quick treat!!
