Fell off the map!

Sep 20, 2009

Hi fellow WLS travelers!  It was brought to my attention that I haven't posted in a while and by golly, the time has FLOWN!  Tomorrow will be 4 weeks post-op.  I have dumped 3 times- all this week.  That wasn't fun but it's all part of learning what I can and can not tolerate.

I can't believe how many ways I can eat refried beans!  Well, not so many but I change my bowl so it SEEEMS different.  Amazingly enough, if you told me two months ago I'd eat refried beans several times a day or week, I would have said BORING, but when I add unflavored protein and a little cheese, it's filling and pretty tasty!

I have not been cleared for exercise yet but I am allowed to clean the house.  I am not a house cleaner by nature so there is plenty to do!  I found the table, baked an amazing cake for my son and drove to his collge yesterday to deliver it.

I'll post a picture later because I was VERY proud of it!

Took the kids to a family restuarnt.  I had cottage cheese and a bowl of chili.  I ate about 1/2 the cheese and less than a 1/3 of the chili however with 6 kids in tow, the chili wasn't wasted!  I got a little sick when we first got there, I assume, from the greek yogurt I had for breakfast... as it was the only thing I'd eaten, I don't know what else it could have been.  However, I had some last night and it was fine.  So I just don't know.

The importance of writing things down is now becoming crystal clear because there are lots of things that can trigger something now feeling good.  I had a really good dinner the other night and all seemed well but about an hour later, in the  car with my sisters going to a Pampered Chef party, I just started puking.  SOMETHING wasn't happy- it was the first time I'd eaten two different meats at the same time... after about 10 minutes, I was fine.

I was down two more pounds today so I'm doing the happy dance.  I have been so busy with meetings this week.  Hard to understand how volunteers have so many meetings and at EVERY meeting... FOOD.  Not being able to eat is facinating because you can really get an idea of how we, as a culture, socialize.  It seemed that every person in that room complained about their weight and said, "pass the dip."  I guess overeating is fine if you remember to complain while doing it.

None of that stuff looked good to me at all.  I had my crystal light in a big 24 ounce bottle and that was my goal.

Overall, I feel great!  A little tired but I haven't been sleeping on a regular schedule due to the new school year and all that stuff...

I read stuff every day and thanks for being on this road with me!!
