Working off that Regain.....

Jul 29, 2013

It's been a while, but wanted to provide an update on my journey. Originally lost 131lbs 8 years ago, but over the last 2 years, I put 60lbs back on. At the beginning of 2013, it finally clicked that I had put back on too much weight. At first, I tried making healthier choices, but the weight wasn't really moving. Then in February, I saw a news program with a doctor talking about the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet. I did more research on intermittent fasting and figured I'd give it a try. Joined myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and it's been going well for me. (Calories in some food is so shocking!) I've lost about 40lbs so far (March - July 2013). Really happy to get back on track. I feel like I can do this.

Here are some pics. The first one is me with the regain, compared to when I lost 35lbs.

This next picture is me at 40lbs down (194lbs)

Intermittent fasting isn't for everyone, but it's working for me and I think I'll do it for a while. By the way, I only fast 2 days a week and it's not a complete fast. I limit my calories to 500 on my fasting days and eat normally for the rest of the week. Once I get to my goal weight, I'll only fast once a week. Feeling good again!

Ridiculously long time since my last post!

Nov 15, 2011

It's been way too long. I think I've been avoiding this site for the past year. I'm currently 225lbs, which I hate to post. I'm dedicating today to restart my journey. It's mostly because I haven't been exercising or taking my vitamins. I could try to blame it on my stressful job and the fact that I was working crazy hours for months -or- running behind my kids everyday, but I can't. It's my fault that I never made exercise a regular part of my life. Newbies, don't make my mistake. Most people cannot keep the weight off if you don't exercise regularly.

I'm starting slow, but I'm going to get back to my ideal range. I won't settle for less. More to update later....

4 Yrs Post-Op (193lbs) & Prego Again! [5/24/09]

May 24, 2009

Hey people.  It's been awhile, but I won't make any more excuses for not posting recently. I gained some weight above my comfort zone, so I need to work on getting that off. My weight loss is currently on hold because I'm pregnant again. It's Post-Op baby number 2. This baby wasn't planned, but it is more than welcomed. I'm basically focused on gaining healthly weight for the baby now. I'm hoping to stay within 35lbs for this pregnancy. I've been taking my vitamins and mostly eating healthy, occasionally sneaking in some ice cream.  5 more months to go and then this baby will be here. Here's some updated photos:

February 19, 2009 (183lbs - Post-Op)

Feb 19, 2009

Hello again. Not much to update. I've been dogg sick for the last couple of weeks with a cold that just won't go away. My 29th B-day is coming up on February 28th. Oooh, I'm getting older. I wanted to come and update with a recent picture. Last weekend, I went to Baltimore for a 'Clean House' Yard Sale  We had a great time. Here's one photo. You can look at my album for the other pics.

January 27, 2009 (183lbs - Post-Op)

Jan 27, 2009

I am ashamed to look at my profile and see that I haven't updated it in over 7 months.  I used to post on BAF (http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/black_american/a,messageboard/board_id,4990/) all the time about how important it is to keep your profile up-to-date for the pre-ops. Now looks at me, it's been months and no posts.  I guess I haven't felt inspired to do it.  I'm about 10lbs heavier than I want to be and not regularly exercising. I don't even have the motivation to do it.  I need to get off my ass and get to it.  I have also noticed that I've been shying away from cameras again. I don't even have any updated photos of myself to post. So bad.

Well, I'm on a mission to re-dedicate myself to the journey and get back on track.  I promise to come back and update again, with some photos, in the next couple of weeks. Until then, I think I'll start surfing through some profiles to help get re-inspired.

3 YR ANNIVERSARY - May 9, 2008 (172lbs - Post-Op)

May 08, 2008

I can't believe that it's my 3 year anniversary.  Who would have thunk that I would have made it this far and still be at a weight that makes me happy. I never would have imaged this.  Sure I would like to be a couple pounds lighter, but I'm not stressing over it.  I was thinking the other day about what keeps me in-line with my weight. Now the normal thing to say would be my health, which is absolutely true, but not a complete answer.  Updating this site regularly keeps me in line. Just knowing that I have to come here every month and update my weight makes me not want to gain. It's like an accountability thing for myself.  I don't want to see that number at the top of my entries continually climbing.  Sure I slip and flat out fall into the weight gain sometimes, but I don't think I've gone out of my comfort zone.  Overall, I'm trully proud of myself and happy I haven't gone back to were I was.  My goal will always be to maintain and lose.

Not much to update this month. Things are going good. Here's an updated  picture of us:

March 5, 2008 (Post Op After Pregnancy - 177lbs)

Mar 05, 2008

Gained a couple pounds these past couple of weeks.  I've been making bad food choices, like desserts and stuff.  I have to keep more healthy snacks around me. When I don't have them I reach for whatever I can get quick and it's usually something bad.

I finally got my bloodwork done and all my levels were normal.  The doc sent me back to the lab again to get a CBC to test for anemia, but it came back normal too.  In the end, he believes I have a sinus infection which causes dizzyness and my blood sugar is dropping when I skip meals.  Other than the sinus stuff, that's actually what I thought was wrong. I was just having multiple cases of it.  I also went to the eye doctor because of the dizzyness.  My perscription changed. When they showed the new script compared to the old, I realized that I've been walking around blind for a while now. It was a total difference. So I hope that everything is pretty much normal now.

I realized I haven't taken any pictures of myself in a couple of months.  I have to post an updated pic soon.
