9 Years Post-Op
May 05, 2014
Can't believe that in a couple days, I'll be 9 years post-op. I successfully got off my regain and am currently maintaining around 173lbs (5'6 @ size 12, Large). Here is a recent pic:
and some progress photos over the last year:
Working off that Regain.....
Jul 29, 2013
It's been a while, but wanted to provide an update on my journey. Originally lost 131lbs 8 years ago, but over the last 2 years, I put 60lbs back on. At the beginning of 2013, it finally clicked that I had put back on too much weight. At first, I tried making healthier choices, but the weight wasn't really moving. Then in February, I saw a news program with a doctor talking about the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet. I did more research on intermittent fasting and figured I'd give it a try. Joined myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and it's been going well for me. (Calories in some food is so shocking!) I've lost about 40lbs so far (March - July 2013). Really happy to get back on track. I feel like I can do this.
Here are some pics. The first one is me with the regain, compared to when I lost 35lbs.
This next picture is me at 40lbs down (194lbs)
Intermittent fasting isn't for everyone, but it's working for me and I think I'll do it for a while. By the way, I only fast 2 days a week and it's not a complete fast. I limit my calories to 500 on my fasting days and eat normally for the rest of the week. Once I get to my goal weight, I'll only fast once a week. Feeling good again!
Ridiculously long time since my last post!

I'm starting slow, but I'm going to get back to my ideal range. I won't settle for less. More to update later....

I am ashamed to look at my profile and see that I haven't updated it in over 7 months. I used to post on BAF (http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/black_american/a,messageboard/board_id,4990/) all the time about how important it is to keep your profile up-to-date for the pre-ops. Now looks at me, it's been months and no posts. I guess I haven't felt inspired to do it. I'm about 10lbs heavier than I want to be and not regularly exercising. I don't even have the motivation to do it. I need to get off my ass and get to it. I have also noticed that I've been shying away from cameras again. I don't even have any updated photos of myself to post. So bad.
Well, I'm on a mission to re-dedicate myself to the journey and get back on track. I promise to come back and update again, with some photos, in the next couple of weeks. Until then, I think I'll start surfing through some profiles to help get re-inspired.
3 YR ANNIVERSARY - May 9, 2008 (172lbs - Post-Op)
May 08, 2008
I can't believe that it's my 3 year anniversary. Who would have thunk that I would have made it this far and still be at a weight that makes me happy. I never would have imaged this. Sure I would like to be a couple pounds lighter, but I'm not stressing over it. I was thinking the other day about what keeps me in-line with my weight. Now the normal thing to say would be my health, which is absolutely true, but not a complete answer. Updating this site regularly keeps me in line. Just knowing that I have to come here every month and update my weight makes me not want to gain. It's like an accountability thing for myself. I don't want to see that number at the top of my entries continually climbing. Sure I slip and flat out fall into the weight gain sometimes, but I don't think I've gone out of my comfort zone. Overall, I'm trully proud of myself and happy I haven't gone back to were I was. My goal will always be to maintain and lose.

I finally got my bloodwork done and all my levels were normal. The doc sent me back to the lab again to get a CBC to test for anemia, but it came back normal too. In the end, he believes I have a sinus infection which causes dizzyness and my blood sugar is dropping when I skip meals. Other than the sinus stuff, that's actually what I thought was wrong. I was just having multiple cases of it. I also went to the eye doctor because of the dizzyness. My perscription changed. When they showed the new script compared to the old, I realized that I've been walking around blind for a while now. It was a total difference. So I hope that everything is pretty much normal now.
I realized I haven't taken any pictures of myself in a couple of months. I have to post an updated pic soon.
