OCTOBER 14, 2009 BARIATRIC SEMINAR

Oct 18, 2009

Today I felt like crap! There were a lot of obstacles including, how I was going to get to this seminar.I arrived at Tempe st. Luke's Hospital about 15 minutes late, but everything was fine. I received my paperwork from  they're  very friendly staff! After filling out this one page of information I handed the person behind the counter my i.d. and ACCCHS card. She made a copy of my i.d. and insurance card and handed me more paperwork to be filled out, next door. I walked next door to a room filled with other overweight people, and they're family members. The desks were arranged in a huge rectangle. Dr. Steven Simon walks in and looks at how the desks were arranged and said, "well that's not gonna work"! Everyone stood up and rearranged the desks, in rows, along with the staff. These were the first words I heard come out of the mouth of the man that was going to perform surgery on me.The new arrangements of the desks put me on the second to last row of seats. I spotted an opening on the first row of seats so I walked up front, put my purse and paperwork down on the desk. I walked across the room to retrieve a chair. Dr. Simon asked if I had a chair before I reached my destination, I replied yes.....I had read a little about Dr. Simon on line and I remember one post from a person stating that he liked to do his presentation fully before you asked questions! lol That was pretty much on the money! He did his presentation in sections and after each section he asked if there were questions and at the end of his presentation he took questions.I walked away feeling certain I wanted him to be my surgeon and that I was knowledgeable on  95% of what was discussed ,I had done my homework.
