Surgery in 3 Weeks . . .

Jun 01, 2009

Having surgery is finally become real to me. I began the journey in January and have been relentless ever since. I went to weight watchers for three months, met with my primary physician several times, spent hundreds of dollars in co-pays and admin fees, and surgery is finally here! Like my dad says "If it were easy, everyone would do it." I know it will be worth it in the end and I am so excited to have a new start at life!

Since being approved for surgery I am more aware of how hard everyday activities are for me. Memorial Day weekend alone brought to my attention that I don't fit in beach chairs, I am out of breathe walking in the sand, I can't fit in carnival rides, and restaurant chairs with arms are uncomfortable. Everytime I had one of these realizations I thought "this will be the last time I sit on the beach feeling this way" or "this is the last time I worry about breaking the plastic chairs on a restaurant patio." I would have done anything to play football on the beach with my boyfriend, but I couldn't because of my weight. I would love to sit in a beach chair, but I can't because they are too low and narrow, I can't get up and out of them.

I can't wait to let this active, energetic, vibrant, 25 year old out of this prison!!
