Had revision lapband to vsg on March 22, 2013

Mar 31, 2013

I finally had my revision things went well. I'm home and tolerating about 3 8oz protein drinks as day a water. I'm surprised I thought I would have more restriction. I have a 40 bougie. I feel good my wounds are healing well. I am a bit discouraged because now I am hearing that revision patients don't lose as much and most likely won't hit goal weight. I pray that's not true. You can follow my journey on my you tube channel kdharrisful. I can't wait to talk to my surgeon about this.

Completed my Sleep Study & Breathing Test

Sep 06, 2012

This go round things went pretty good. This room looked more like a  hotel. The camera was hidden, there wasn't a big tinted glass with someone staring at me, lol. I did however have a panic attack. I woke up in the middle of the night and the wires freaked me out. I didn't have the best  but at least it's over. I did my breathing test yesterday, I will have the results to both test next week. I'm excited because that wll be my final appointment/clearance.  I have 3 life skill classes then revision time!

So i'm getting revision surgery VSG bound

Aug 23, 2012

Ok so in June my surgeon decided that I could get a revision. My band has failed it can't be refilled due to vomiting and pain. The news was a bitter sweet moment. I'm happy that the band is being removed, but I am scared to do another surgery. I'm scared, "What if this one doesn't work either? After speaking to the staff I know I chose the best surgery for me and things will work out.
So I am on yet another journey to weight loss surgery.

Three years laterand almost back to where i've started(lap band

May 05, 2011

I am so disappointed! I had the lap band  Feb 2008. The first year in a half I lost 70lbs. The fall of 2009 I was hospitalized and my band was emptied because I became dehydrated and couldn't keep anything down. I was empty for 2 mos. and gained 25lbs. I lost ten of the twenty but realized that I wasn't losing anymore. My band ddidn't  seem to tighten the way it did in the beginning. Needless to say that March 2011 I had gained 45lbs back. I received a fill and I got sick again. I was too the point where I couldn't even swallow. So they took out what they put in and I was fine.
Just yesterday I had another fill and was told that I was 15lbs away from where I started three years ago. So Dr. Peters wants to do a study to see why my band is not working and he also said I mat want to look at the gastric sleeve. I am so afraid to go back under the knife again. I just don't understand what is going on. By the way the fill diidn't work because two hours after I was home my stomach was growling. SMH So over this!

They are now NAtional Grand Champions in their division, which means we go to Virginia Beach to compete in the World Competion, May 2. GO Infinity All-Stars!

Went out for Dinner

Feb 22, 2008

Last night my friend stopped by and wanted to go out to eat at Friday's. I had to remind her that I had just had surgery and I reaaly didn't think Friday's would be a good look for me. S we went to IHOP. I ordered cheese grits, and soft cooked scrambled eggs.. Since I have no restriction, I thought I would have no problem with scarfing them down. Well let's just say after 3 spoon fulls of grits and a few bites of eggs I was full. I was shocked. I would have thought I would be able to eat more without the restriction.
I have been eating creamed spinach and mashed potaoes as my meals, because I'm too afraid to eat anything else. I don't know if this whole band thing is just mental or not.

I do know that I don't want to get that slime, or stuck feeling I hear about on the the message board.
Oh and I started back to the gym too. that was a crazy experience I seemed to sweat a bucket and I was only on the treadmill for 15 minutesat 4.0 incline and 2.2 speed. The next day right around m port area was a little sore maybe I over did it who knows...

1st visit since surgery

Feb 21, 2008

Today was my first visit since my surgery. To my surprise it was very short. Dr. Peters wasn't in so I had to see Dr. Wynn. She asked me if I was having any discomfort or if I was feeling any hunger. I have been feeling fine, I have been experiencing hunger. She told me I could try puree or puree like foods like yogurt and mash potatoes. i was shocked because I was always told I had to do liquids for 4 weeks. I may try and do instant mash potatoes tonight, not sure. she also told me to exercise. Which I planned to do anyway. Any whoo, I get my first fill at the end of March. Oh yeah I lost 2lbs, since Sunday. until next time...
