65 lbs gone!!!
May 10, 2008
Hello Everyone....haven't blogged in a while and figured I need to give an update. I'm now weighing in at 164 lbs and my start weight was 229 lbs. I'm really happy about my weight loss even though it seems as if it's kind of slow. I'm still not exercising the way I should. Where can you purchase some motivation? I'm going to start doing resistant exercises because my arms are starting to get a little bit flabby but nothing I can't live with. I can definitely try to tone up more but I really don't have a lot of flabby skin but I would like my weight loss to become more significant and drop more sizes. I'm down to about a size 10/12 in pants and a large in tops. I really need to buy more clothes. I'm still wearing some of my 16 pants and they are falling off of me. I even had to pin a pair on the other day. My 2x shirts are falling off me too. I'm going to post more current pictures because I don't even look the same anymore. Well...actually I'm starting to recognize the person I was over 18 years ago and I love her look..I'm so glad that we're re-acquainted. Otherwise; everything is going well and I'll keep everyone posted.

Surgery went well!!
Dec 07, 2007
Haven't blogged in a while so I want to keep everyone posted. My surgery date was on Nov 28th at 9am. Arrived at the hosp at 7am and the nurses started prepping me around 8am. Surgery began at 9:25am. The doctor was a tad bit late and I was getting nervous. Not for the surgery but in case he didn't make it and I had to reschedule. Around 11am, I woke up in the recovery room literally gasping for air. I did have an air tube in my nose but I felt as though I couldn't breath. The nurse was like, "that's the anethesia and it will wear off in about an hour, I was thinking, "I'm going to die in the recovery room because this nurse doesn't care". About an hour later I could breath as normal and they wheeled me into my room. My first thought was that, "boy..I can sure use a pepsi" My mouth was so dry and I was thirsty. They gave me a mouth swab and said I couldn't drink anything until the next day. I was up and walking around the room a few hours later. I waited around to see if I was going to get that bad gas and bloatiness that everyone spoke of. It never came and I was in 7th heaven. Except for the drain and staples on the small incisions. I got to take a shower the next day and finally drink water and eat jello and popsicles. Cool! Everyone and their mama came out to visit me. My room stayed full. Probably because my mother got on her phone and told everybody about my surgery. Can't get mad at her because I went back to her house to recuperate. On my first week visit on December 5, I had lost 7.5 lbs. Not that bad. About a pound a day. I did weigh in at 229 on the day of surgery so I had gained a pound. I did exerperince my first dumping yesterday. I was cleared to eat scrambled eggs, but my dumb self ate 2 and drank a little bit of body for life protein drinks and I was sick and threw up twice. I finally started feeling better about 6 hours later. I am mourning food though. I'm not hungry but I'm recuperating at home and watching tv. Those popeye and KFC commercials are killing me, not to mention Pizza Hut, Applebee's, etc...It's all in my mind, because I am not hungry. I'll just drink a bit of water and I'm full. I got the drain and staples removed on Dec 5 and that night I had a scab on it. The scar is going away pretty fast. Cocoa Butter to the rescue. All in all...I can't wait til a few months pass by and I can see a real difference. I'm going to have to be patient. I'm going to start working out in January. I'll keep everyone posted and thanks for all your support.

Received Surgery Date!!!
Sep 26, 2007
Went to Pre Op today and it lasted every bit of 8 hours. It was very informative and the doctor answered all of my questions. My surgery date is scheduled for November 28 at 9am. I am the first surgery of the day. I really wanted a surgery date at the end of October like I was promised but the nursing staff did some sort of lottery to decide who would be scheduled first. The dates started on October 24 and ended on December 19. My doctor only does surgery on Wednesdays and he only does 5 on that day. Well...The Pre Op class consisted of 12 people. At the end of the day, they call us in to talk to the doctor then to schedule our surgery. Well...I was 11 out of 12 so when they finally got to me all of the previous dates were booked. Then the surgeon will be out of town the first 3 weeks in November so the earliest date would be the 28th. I'm really bummed about this. I'll get through it and the time will go by. The nurse says, "well at least you can eat that macaroni and cheese for Thanksgiving." I guess...but I would have rather been on the liquid diet still. One good thing is that we are the last class this year that will be scheduled for surgery and the next surgery dates will be the end of January. Thank God I didn't have to wait that long!!! One good thing that came out of the visit is that I weighed in at 228 lbs. That means I have 108 lbs to lose.
Finally finished my Masters
Sep 19, 2007
Today is a great day for me. I took my very last class to achieve my Masters last night!! I am so happy. Everything is falling into place. This has been a major accomplishment for me. Yeah...I can do anything!!! Next week I will meet up with my surgeon, Dr. De La Torre. I am so excited. My surgery will be next month, I won't get the exact date until next week. Now, I'm looking for a new job. I currently work at Verizon but there is no room for real advancement in St. Louis. Wish me luck. Is anyone hiring in St. Louis? Can't wait to get this weight under control. I feel like it is just holding me back.
