5 Months!

Jul 09, 2007

Well, yesterday was my 5 month surgiversary. It's hard to believe that it has already been that long since my surgery. I now weigh 183.5 with a BMI of 30.5. I'm so close to being "overweight" and no longer obese!! The weight is still coming off but sloooooowly now, I have really stepped up my exercise routine to kind of kick-start a better loss. My best friend's wedding is September 1st and I'm "matron of honor" (ugh - I hate that title!) and want to look good in my dress! Even though I am not losing a whole lot, my clothes are still getting looser, so that's a plus. I'm really enjoying being able to shop in regular stores, even though I still fit in some plus sizes.

My final goal is 140, but I really would be happy in the 160s somewhere. My PCP thinks 140 is too low, she's happy with 150 or so. Honestly, I really want to lose more, but if I never lost another pound, I would be happy with my (almost) 80 pound loss. I don't have one single regret about my decision to have RNY.

Almost 4 months post-op now and down 68 pounds! I finally fit into (mostly) regular sizes, I can shop at Old Navy and not have to go in the "plus" section! My weight loss has definitely slowed, though, I rarely lose more than 1-2.5 pounds a week now. I think I may actually have to increase my calories/protein to get bigger losses since I'm now more active. Not much exercising this week though, I'm just feeling really lazy! Only 55 pounds until goal!

Slow, slow, slow

I'm now 4 weeks postop and still have lost "only" 28 pounds (16.5 since surgery). Ugh. I am doing everything right, but the scale is not moving fast enough for me. I am starting an intensive exercise program, which will hopefully jump-start a bigger loss. Everything is pretty frustrating right now. I just want to see some good results for all my hard work and sacrifice!

Ugh. I'm not even 3 weeks postop and I am HUNGRY! One of the reasons I went with the bypass as opposed to the band is because the though of not feeling hungry for a while was very appealing to me...I'm really disappointed that it's not how it turned out. My eating has been fine, I'm not "cheating" or anything, but I wish I wasn't feeling the hunger. I'm down 24.5 pounds as of today, which includes the weight I lost before surgery. I'm still pretty sore on the right side (which is where the biggest incision is and the only one that had sutures) so my surgeon told me to stop exercising for a few days. Oh well.
