Well...

Apr 28, 2009

It's a GIRL!!! We found out last Thursday and we were both really excited! I'm 19w 4d as of today. We had already decided to name our daughter Jade Chanel, so that's what her name will be. Today also marks my one year anniversary since my surgery. My highest weight was 284, my lowest (the morning I found out I was pregnant, Jan 12th) was 213. I am pretty sure that without being pregnant I could've lost 14lbs by now and been in the 190's at least. But that's okay cuz I got my other wish, my baby girl! I'll be right back on the wagon come Oct. Hopefully breastfeeding won't hold me back. I've gained 10- 12lbs, depending on the day, up to this point. I'm looking forward to my belly poking out even more. A lot of people were used to seeing my as a big girl so even though I'd lost some weight I guess to them I still look the same. It's okay though... I know what's going on!

It's been toooooo long!

Apr 17, 2009

I can't believe it's been that long since I posted anything here. I just knew that I'd posted my GOOD news... I'M PREGNANT!!! I know it's so wild. I'm 17w 6d and it still doesn't seem real to us. DH was ecstatic when we found out. I was too of course. Getting pregnant was one, if not THE, main reason for me even having this surgery. It's so surreal. My LMP was 12/10, meds were started on 12/12, and we conceived around 12/24, 12/25. I think this is our miracle baby because there was no time for the meds to start working within that time frame. We go in on 4/23 to find out whether we're on Team Blue or Team Pink. I. Can. Not. Wait. (I did take a Gender Predictor Test by Intelligender that I bought at Walgreens. It said I'm having a girl. So when we go in next week we'll see how accurate that test was.) At first I was a little anxious about everything that we needed to do or get done to even be ready for a baby but now I've kinda eased myself into it. We're ready! We can do this!

Measurements... WOW!!

Jul 31, 2008

I took my body measurements for the first time on 6/19/08, approximately 6 weeks post-op. I took them again this morning 8/1/08, approximately 6 weeks from the last time. They were as follows:

                       6/19                        8/1
1. Bust               51                          49.5
2. Chest            43                          40.5
3. Waist           50.5                       48**
4. Hips             48.5                       47
5. Midway        50                          48
6. Thighs           L- 28 R- 27.5        L- 28 R- 28
7. Knees            L- 18  R- 18           L- 17  R- 18
8. Calves           L- 17  R- 17.5        L- 16.75  R- 17.5
9. Upper Arm    L- 13  R- 15           L- 14.5  R- 15.5
10. Forearm       L- 10.75 R- 11.25   L- 10.5  R- 11

**(I measured at my navel line the first time because I couldn't tell where my waist was, but looking in the mirror this morning I could see the smallest part of my waist which is where you're supposed to measure and it was 43. I'll be measuring there from now on.) Also with my arm and leg measurements I'm not sure if I placed the tape at the exact same spots as the first time so the measurements may be a little off but I've also been working my arms and legs harder at the gym so this may be muscle mass. I made myself some guidelines to get accurate readings next time so...
I am psyched about my body measurements though. Everything went down! So even if/ when the scale isn't moving the inches are so it's encouragement to keep up my good work.

Mini Goal Set

Jul 29, 2008

It's currently my TOM so I'm at 234 again (I had dropped to 232.) That's okay because I know I'm registering some water weight. My mini goal is to be 229 soon because that'll be lower than my lowest adult weight which was 230. I remember being 230 because I'd just had my tonsils taken out and I was only eating one baked potato a day and I'd done that for about 2.5 weeks. I dropped a little over 15 lbs that way. Seeing 220-anything will be a blessing for me. It'll mean that 200 ain't that far away! That'll be the day. One thing that I can see myself doing is rewarding myself. I've ALWAYS done this and it sabotages my loss EVERY time. I'll think that since I've done so well then I can eat some of this or have something that I wouldn't normally allow myself to have. I'm going to really try to be on myself about that. If I do reward myself then I'll make a better choice about it. So today I want to say GOODBYE to the 230's (although I'm not officially there yet) and HELLO 220's. This will help me envision actually being there. Yea it sounds silly but it'll work... watch.

I DID IT!!! I DID IT!!! I DID IT!!!

Jul 17, 2008

I know yesterday I  wrote that I wanted to be at 234lbs ASAP but I had stalled, well...... I FINALLY GOT THERE!! Somehow I lost three pounds between getting up yesterday morning and getting to the doctor for a fill yesterday afternoon. I am soooo excited!!! I did up my exercising at the beginning of the week so maybe that caught up with me. I thought that my scale at home was playing tricks on me so when I got home from the gym I hopped on just to see (normally I weigh more in the evening than in the morning) but there it was... 234!! My next mini goal is 215 by Labor Day. And you can hold me to that! I am in the Labor Day challenge on the LB board and I hadn't been doing too well so far but this has just made my weekend!!! YAY ME!!!

Stalled... NSV for DH

Jul 16, 2008

My second fill was on 6/19 and since then I have lost a total of 1.5 lbs. I have really stalled and I know it happens to a lot of people but that doesn't make it any easier to accept. UUGGHH!! I don't think I've been doing too bad with my eating but I think my body had gotten used to my exercise plan. So this week I changed it up and added another walking break to my workday and... VOILA! I lost two pounds as of yesterday morning... but then they were right back this morning. Whatever! I go for my third fill today and hopefully that will give me some restriction. I'm really trying to reach my 50 pound loss ASAP which would put me at 234 but I always get down to 235.7 and bounce between there and 237. Hopefully this fill will take me there. I'm going to try my best to follow the post fill instructions- liquids for two days then soft foods and finally introduce solids. I've been told that the third fill is when most people finally start feeling at least a little bit of restriction. I'm not eating more than a cup of food at a time just because I'm still scared of PBing and sliming. My biggest issue is snacking at night. OMG it gets bad! I'll eat dinner and then an hour to two hours later I'm back in the pantry searching for something sweet or salty... it's crazy! I'm not as bad as I was but I don't like it!

DH had an NSV yesterday and didn't even realize it. We were sitting on the couch talking and he crossed his legs (a man's cross, not a lady's cross) and he wasn't straining or struggling to keep it up there. He just kept right on talking and I looked at him after about five minutes and said "You have your legs crossed!" He looked down, his eyes got big, and he just couldn't believe it! I am sooooo proud of him! He's lost about 45 lbs since his pre-op diet. He's doing so well! I love him with all my heart... plus there are some added bonuses!

Problems Measuring?

Jun 13, 2008

I always have a hard time figuring out how much of this I'm eating or if something was more or less than the recommended serving. So one of the nice ladies on the Band board posted this site which has a lot of useful information on it- http://dev.standupandeat.org/images/sizeitup.pdf No more wondering!! Now all I need to do is get these items out and study them to make sure I'm not back in the same boat. Happy Measuring!!

To A New Us... Cheers!!

Jun 09, 2008

Well, DH was banded last Tuesday, 6/3/08. He's doing very well, so well in fact that I have to remind myself that this isn't a competition! I'm so proud of him!! He took to this like a fish in water. I was worried at first that he might have a hard time with it but then I remember that everybody's journey is different. He's my source of encouragement and my little voice that says "Hey, hey, is that part of the plan?" He doesn't just come out and say that but he'll say something like, "I'm really gonna try to make mine work for me, what about you?" It'll be just what I need to remind me to put that cookie in the trash (even though it's just a Nilla Wafer.) He's ready to start back to exercising and everything. I've been doing my walking at work but now that it's so hot outside it'll be good to have someone who's willing to go with me once I get home. I'm amazed at how much more energy we both have even though we haven't lost a lot. I'm soooooo ready for this!!!
