Surgiversary year 2 !!!!!
D.S. Surgery Aug 28, 2011
Another year with good results, happy I chose the D.S. but juggling the demands of nutrition/ vites/ hydration/ exercise, incorporating all these into my busy life. Maintaining easily since my first 8 month major weight loss when I reached my 125 lb final goal. Steady weight 3 lbs either side of 120 lbs.
Surgeries completed this year: Circumferential body lift, breast lift/augmentation, butt lift/augmentation, thigh lipo front/side( inside to do next year), torso sculpting, with removed areas used for butt augmentation. Round one plastics done, still feel healing is not complete deep inside every where, at 8 monhs.
Planned surgeries booked this year: Plastics-- Oct......... face lift, eyes, brow lift, neck, cheeks. Hiatal Hernia, 3-4 months post plastics.
Info about tummy tucks at Tummytucktalk.com, check out Youtube, members of TTT talk about their experiences, check out "Becky", she can tell you on Youtube how to join the TTT site. I like their products for healing.
Be an advocate for your health. Share your labs with all your Dr's. Bring copies of vitamin/supplements list, and blood test lab results. My internist is my PCP. She's in charge of my general health, sends me for tests, and scans to check out major systems, searching for my symptom solutions. Follow up with your semi annual and annual bariatric surgeons visits. They have reviewed my labs bringing up ways to improve my food choices, and monitor my weight. My surgeon asked me to actually gain weight to offset the weight I will be losing after my up coming hiatal hernia surgery, from the post surgery healing liquid diet. I know a D.S.er who lost 12 lbs post surgery.
More to come, off for a Labor Day BBQ. Happy Labor Day !!!!!
Surgiversary !!! ;-)

Gym days- at least 3-4 a week are packed full of floor exercises like the plank, stretching, 10 weight machines, incline treadmill- 1-2 miles.
Gallbladder: This year I had to stop the gym for 3 months with gallbladder attack, and removal surgery, along with appendix. Fully recovered, back to my normal activities.
Physical Therapy-:At the Bronson Hospital Gym- working on correcting spine posture because of narrowing foramen causing nerve pain down arm and up back of neck. Sharp bony hips pressing on siatic nerve- very painful while driving. Trying to change position of tailbone while seated and standing to aleviate bruised tailbone pain since I have lost my padding.
Hobbies: With fall approaching, just a few months of good weather left for playing in the garden with landscaping. I am changing out the bulb type plants for evergreens to add more green to the landscape during the winter months. New plants around the mailbox, entry, deck and back patio give a facelift to the house. I'm picturing x-mas lights on the new pine trees covered in a dusting of snow. December is just around the corner !!!
Thinking about the past year, how smoothly everything went from pre planning for the D.S.to post surgery, recovery, gym trainer help with learning the weight machines, cognative therapy weight loss lectures at GHP for 6 months, Moving homes, helping my 2 college kids move and sort out their lives, and endless dog walks in the woods around our new house contimplating lifes little pleasures as a thin person. It was a very good year !!! ;-)
Long Distance Hospitals
Jul 10, 2012
Many of you have wondered where I have been for the past month, not posting much. I have been escorting my son through 3 hospitals for a pulminary embolus, and a few other things. Currently we are in Maryland at Johns Hopkins Hospital. his recovery is coming along, and he will be released in a day or two. I decided to search for the best doctors and hospital in the country, using the internet for top awarded hospitals. Hopkins has been awarded the number one spot for many years. since we last lived in Delaware, and shopped in Baltimore frequently, I felt at home coming here for an extended stay. I considered it the same as traveling for my D.S., and other surgeries. While we are here, I am having a few tests done for myself, and seeing top doctors, making connections for future surgeries if necessary. My upper spine issues will most likely need a neurosurgeons attention down the line. I have confidence in the doctors here.
When we arrived 10 days ago I weighed 126, my lowest since D.S. surgery. With no scale to check my progress, I am using my clothing to gage my gain/loss. I am not working out at a gym, but fast walk 2-3 miles a day between the parking and my sons hospital room, and shopping. Everyone walks fast through the Hopkins Hospital halls. Its such a busy place, reminds me of the airport concourses. I think I have lost some upper body muscle, but toned my legs. Pants are fitting a bit looser.
I'm not eating as much from the effects of stress. Maintaining my protein with lots of shakes, protein fruit drinks, deli meat/cheese, meat sticks/jerkee, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, apples, small salads,( Juicy fried chicken wings from the caffeteria are my favorite, my limit = 4. I was tempted to pick up a scale at Bed/Bath, or ask the nurse to weigh me, but I think I am doing fine. I had my prescriptions filled from home and shipped to my hotel, keeping them locked in my suitcase, and in the car when I am out. No excuse not to take them. ;-)
