I'm home. My dad came to pick me up this morning at Methodist. I was home by 11:30am. I am so happy to be home! I had many visitors! AmyCorean, Lee, Tracy, Lori, and Amy stopped by for a visit on Tuesday. You all made my day by stopping by! Thank you all for the cards, flowers, balloons, and gifts! I'm so thankful for all of you and your support! This new journey will be fun and I will have to work at it, but I'm up for the challenge and ready for the change! Thanks for saving room for me on the losers bench!!

My lap RNY is set for Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Methodist Hospital. I can't wait to be a loser!
I'm normal (on paper at least!)

I met with the psychologist at PNC this morning. My MMPI results say that I'm normal and have a lot of self confidence (hmmm?) Are self confidence and self esteem the same thing?
My next appointment is on September 6. I will meet with the physical therapist, dietician, and the bariactric physician. They psychologist gave me a few tips and ideas to start now before I see the dietician. She said that I should start behaving as if I've had the surgery. I've started the increased water intake and cut out soda. But I still have a ways to go.
My mom is still not on the bus with me. I agreed to follow her LA Weightloss program to see how that goes (of course she still has to schedule an appointment and go to the appointment). I told her that I will do LA with her but I am still going to pursue WLS. She was happy that I am willing to keep trying non-surgical methods.
She still only wants to take in the negatives regarding this surgery. I've invited her to my appointments, coffee, and to take a look at this site. She needs to do some of her own research as well instead of listening to everything she hears on the tv, radio, and others.

Well I did it, I told my mom that I'm in the process of going through WLS. She reacted the way I expected-not positive. She is worried about how many "pills you're going to have to take for the rest of your life and those people are never healthy again and how are you going to pay for it and don't you think spending $249 with LA Weightloss to lose all you want a better way to lose weight?"
I told her that I might have a multivitamin and calcium supplement. I told that everyone I know who has had the surgery is healthier than they were BEFORE they had surgery and I told her that my insurance is quite likely to cover it and I told I've done enough "dieting." I invited her to my appointments and told her about the OH website. Perhaps she'll come around. I've got a lot of support from my friends who have had it or are scheduled, I've got support from my sisters and of course OH!
I gave her my information packet from the PNC info session and told her to please come to me with questions and concerns. We'll see what happens.

Park Nicollet called today.

Jessica from Gen. Surgery at PNC called to get some appointments scheduled. On 7/20/07 I take my MMPI test and then meet with Dave, the nurse. On 8/3/07 I meet with Laura Jaap, psychologist, to review the MMPI results. I'm really excited! Now I have to tell my mom-ugh! I'll keep you posted.

I'm still waiting to hear from Park Nicollet. I know I should give it some more time, but I am excited to get going. I read all of the posts and the WOW moments and am jealous, but excited. Keep your fingers crossed that they call me soon.
