I visited with Queens comprehensive weight management a month ago. At that check up I weighed in at 257 & 49% body fat. I am almost 6 years post opp and I'm still working on my health.

cutting down on sugar

May 27, 2014

I made a jello cake the other day. it was loaded with sugar and fat.  it was a trifle with peaches and whipped cream.  i ate some and felt really really sick. feverish and sick. it's been so long since I've actually paid attention to the way my body reacts to certain foods.  Sugar makes me S.I.C.K.  and I don't like feeling that way.  So my trifle went down the garbage disposal. the entire trifle.  since then, i went through my cupboards looking for sugary things.  i collected them, stuck them in a box and put them outside of my apartment door with a "FREE" sign on it.  i was worried that they would still be there in the morning, but hey.... someone took the entire box.  I'm not saying that I wont eat any sugar, but I am cutting down on it.  I really don't like feeling as sick as I do when I eat it.  and I don't need to have it staring at me every time I open my cupboards or fridge.

6 years and some

May 26, 2014

Hey there people.  So I've had my ups and downs post op.  Lost a heck a lot of weight, found cancer cells in my abs, fell totally off of my diet while on Chemo. Gained about 50 pounds back and now I have been steady at around 250 for a few years.  My diet is still crap and I really want to change that.  I am looking for inspiration and motivation.  I'm happy with how much more things I can do now, but I know there is so much more life for me to enjoy and I want it.  I really really want it!  my hair is very thin. the actual size of my strands are about 1/3 finer then they used to be.  and that is a challenge for me.  my nails are also different. they are thinner and my bones and joints feel older.  anywho, i will be back here more often to check in, read articles and get back on the wagon.

I'm 4 years Post Op

Mar 19, 2012

Holy banana!  I am 4 years out already.  LOL.  actually, it seems much longer. Life has been very eventful.  I am not a size 4 that i wanted to be.  (seriously doubt that my body frame is that small).  But i am healthier then i was before the surgery.  I must say that I have gained weight again.  not as much as before, but i am still in the 200's.  Still less then 100lbs from my heaviest. Which is so dang wonderful! I'll post more pictures of me later.  But wanted to say thanks to the surgery for saving my life.  without it, i wouldn't have noticed the growing mass in my abdomen and wouldn't have gone to the doctor and wouldn't have found out that it was cancer, stage 4.  that was 2 years ago.  and here i am writing ya'll about it.  :-)  will write more laterz.  No matter what size, what your abilities or challenges.  You're still here on this earth.  I hope you find joy in what ever makes you happy.
