The last several weeks have been very busy. We have finally baught out own house. We are moving on the 31st of August. Been very busy packing and getting the kids ready to start school on Sept 5. They are excited to go, and I am SOOOO READY for them to go. Since my last post I have found out that I do need 6 months of doctor managed diet and excercise, but 3 of them need to be pre op. Not sure how to get approved with out it completed. But I suppose I will find out when I visit my new PCP next month.

Well I finally did it! I have changed my PCP to Dr. Nicholas Siebers at the UW Health East Clinic in Madison. He specializes in patients with weight issues. I have my first appointment on September 21. We are going to get started on my 6 months of weight management required for my insurance. We will talk about getting a physical done and a sleep study done. I hate to say it, but I am hoping that I have it so that the insurance will approve me. I am told that if I have it, it is almost guarenteed they will approve me, as long as I have everthing else done. I am very excited that I have made this step. It is a step in the right direction.

Well, I havent done what I keep promising myself. I either need to change my PCP or get back into my current PCP and get my 6 months started. I guess I am kind of waiting to see where I get a job. I have a few options as to where to go for a PCP and really want to make them in a convenient location. I will not get anywhere if I dont get moving on this. I am feeling increasingly tired, and cant figure out why. My gerd is getting worse and my feet hurt. I need to get moving on this decision.

Alright, so I went to the seminar. Honestly, it didnt really teach me anything I didnt already know (thanks to ObesityHelp.com!). But it did give me faith in the team of people that I have chosen to take this journey with. It also has given me more determination to go back to my doctor and ASK for things. I have been afraid to try and push my doctor in the direction of surgury. And so, since I have not been assertive, they are just sitting there waiting for me. I guess that makes sense, since they cant read my mind and they dont know how serious I am about this. So, starting tomorrow I am getting on the phone and setting up an appointment to get started on the road to getting things in order. Get my 6 months of consecutive physician approved diet stuff and get any tests done that I can get her to do. Hopefully, I will get somewhere.

The good days come and go. The hope I felt a few days ago is fading to frustration. I have since learned that my doctors office is not interpreting the insurance "prior authorization rules" the way that I do. I have called and questioned them about the information I have found versus the information they are getting and they are seemingly sticking to thier guns. To get some clarification, I have called Badger Care themselves, and it seems they are telling me that I should just talk to my doctor because they have the most available information. :(( So, since I didnt get anywhere with them, I decided to call Dr. Garren/Dr. Gould's office directly and see if they can answer some of my questions. Afterall, they are the ones who deal with it all the time. So, after talking to Dawn, who was VERY nice and VERY helpful, she signed me up for the seminar that would be necessary anyway and said that the person that I need to speak with would be at the seminar anyway. So, July 24 I will be getting answers and good information! Finally! Someone who can actually answer my questions!!! ;-))

Well, I have taken the first step in this process! I am excited about the outcome. My doctor and I discussed my weight and we talked about all the things I have tried to lose the weight. It seems I am at an impass. We agreed that taking WL meds are not the answer, only a crutch. As are all the fad diets. We made some phone calls to find out if my insurance will even consider surgery and it seems they will, all but the lap band. Of course I will need "prior authorization" in other words, extreme documentation. So, my doctor is going to consult with the other doctors at my clinic and make sure we have done everything we can to provide the documentation. I will be getting a phone call from her in the coming days and we will see if I have met that expectation. If so, we will be making an appointment to meet the surgeon and discuss my options. I am having a good day!
