A LONG TIME COMING

I actually started researching weight loss surgery about 4 years ago. I went as far as having the nutritionist evaluation, saw the psychiatrist for my psychological assessment, and even saw a surgeon in Atlanta for my initial evaluation. I was getting really close, so I thought. Several things happened that prevented me from proceeding forward with the surgery at that time.
I had seen my gynecologist monthly for 6 months and presented his notes to the insurance company for approval for surgery and I was declined because the doctors notes were "not detailed enough." . They told me I had to repeat the 6 month weight loss program. Around that same time, my husband had a co-worker who had gastric bypass surgery and ended up in ICU close to death. Therefore, my husband refused to give me his blessing to move forward with the surgery. He felt it was too risky and didn't want to lose me. He wanted me to try, again, to lose weight on my own.
In the meantime, my sister and her daughter both had gastric bypass surgery and both of them suffered from complications. My sister was hospitalized twice due to complications related to her surgery.
Over the next four years, despite my on-again, off-again efforts, I managed to put on another 70 pounds.
Then, out of the clear blue my husband says to me "I know you really want to have that surgery, so you better go ahead while we have good insurance." I couldn't believe it. I asked him what had changed his mind and he told me that he had listened to a radio newscast about weight loss surgery and it gave the statistics and a discussion ensued about how much the surgery had been improved over the years and the mortality rate related to the surgery had gone down significantly. So now with my husband's blessing, I begin the journey . . . AGAIN!! Please pray that things will fall into place this time.
