Well, first of all, I'm more than a friend of a post op patient. My husband had surgery 6/5/08, and it has definitely been a one-of-a-kind experience for both of us so far.  He has been very impressed with this site, and convinced me to take a look. Besides just taking care of my husband after surgery, I want to take a much more active role in his post op activities. I have learned more about protein and vitamins and reading labels than I ever thought possible! I want to learn to make foods that are healthy for him, and yet taste good. I want to make sure he exercises, and stays motivated. I want to be able to support him when he's feeling down or frustrated. I want to encourage him and show him how proud I am of him for taking such a major step to improve his health.
In doing all of this for him, I also want to do it for others in our area, or online. I didn't realize how many people were having bariatric surgery until we got involved in this process. There are so few support groups, and the times and dates are so limited. For people that have jobs and kids, there has got to be a way to reach them! I'm determined to help!!!
So, there is my story of what brought me here.
On the more personal side, I'm 39, an emergency dispatcher (working midnights now), with a 16 year old son, a 4 year old daughter, and a 2 year old daughter.
I hope to meet people here soon!!
