HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!  Well, I'm 5 wks out of surgery and down 30 lbs wooohoo!!!!!!!!!! My clothes aren't feeling that much looser and I really don't see a difference in the mirror but I'm just THRILLED to see the number on that EVIL scale continue to go down.  I was stuck at 239 for a week about 3 weeks out and was beginning to wonder if I had done this all for nothing,  About the 8th day I got ticked off  and decided to try eating more frequently like I had read on this site, since sometimes eating more helps a plateau. Who wuda thunk it!?!? The next day I lost 2 lbs! I love obesityhelp.com!!

Haven't updated in a while but I finally had the surgery on 12/6, was originally scheduled for 11/29 but had to delay it a wk cuz doc wanted me to lose 10 lbs before surgery, of course he realizes this a wk before the surgery despite the fact he's had my lab results since AUGUST! so i had to go a liquid diet... YES LIQUID DIET, THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING! IS HE KIDDING?!??! talk about torture, but i did it! YAY!) and lost the weight he wanted.

anyway the first 2 days after the surgery were probably the worst, i've never had surgery before nor do i have children so I had NO idea what to expect, all the group sessions in the world can't help you prepare for the pain u'r gonna feel, at least in my case, call me a punk but the pain was so bad I even wondered "what have i done" and "did i really have to do this" especially when everyone in the hospital is telling you "you're not that big", yeah NOW ya tell me lol

well 10 days and minus 10 lbs later (woo hoo) i feel great (although still a little sore) and don't regret a thing but i KNOW this is only the beginning........

After long consideration I have decided to have THE surgery, Gastric Bypass.  NO, I don't want to look like a model, I have always felt attractive and my weight never inhibited me from being outgoing and fun loving, but as I get older I realize it is beginning to physically hinder me from doing things I used to find effortless, not to mention the fact that I am now in the beginning  stages of Diabetes and my blood pressure has hit the roof.  Needless to say, this is something  feel I have to do  for myself, primarily for health reasons, the fact that I am going to be even FINER than I already am is just a bonus lol.  So for those of you considering it and for those that want to know just a little about me, or alot about me, I will chronical my adventures with the entire process over these next few months.

I was approved for the procedure by my insurance on July 19, 2006, AND on the first request  at that, which,  from what I understand NEVER happens, another sign I am doing the right thing for me. Generally, people are denied the first time and are approved after an appeal, some people may even have to submit a second appeal. Despite my rapid approval however,  it has taken months to finally get cleared for surgery by my doctors due to several health issues.  I have now tentatively scheduled it for the week after Thanksgiving ...YAY! I will still be able to enjoy my mom's stuffing :-) before I go under and  have to change my life forever...... YEAH YEAH YEAH I'M A DRAMA QUEEN TOO LOL
