Hi. My name is Laura, aka laura2uok, a girl born and raised in Coweta Oklahoma, who has recently been transplanted to sunny California. Well, three years ago we (my DH and I) moved to LA from Oklahoma because we were ready for a change. We had tried for 15 years to have children of our own, but were never able to. So, life in California was going to fulfill us......little did we know. Only 10 months after moving here, we were approached about adopting a baby. We were unsure at first, but the more we thought about it, the more we knew what to do....ride this train and see where it takes us. Lo and behold things went smoother than smooth, and we now have our little angel, who just turned 2 years old in August. Now it feels even more urgent that I gain control of my weight and my life so I can really be a part of my son's life (and actually catch him when he runs off, or play with him for more than 3 minutes at a time before taking a break!)
Because of my infertility treatments, I yo-yo'd up and down on the scales. Turns out that hormones are pretty powerful in the weight game. So after 15 years of playin' with the hormones, I now weigh more than I ever have before - 339 lbs at my heaviest. I've also gained 3 new meds in the last 2 years - all because of my weight. And I've really become afraid that my life is slipping through my fingers because of it. It's taken a long time to take this step (5 years of thinking about WLS) but now with my life (literally) hanging in the balance, I'm ready to take charge again.
