Don't Let Loneliness Jeporadize Your Weight Loss

Jun 03, 2012

Have you ever felt like it was you against the world, when trying to stick to a new diet or exercises routine? It is tough, and it can eventually turn disastrous.

Loneliness is feeling despair, disconnected, and isolated. It drains your self-confidence, and sense of hope.  How can you be successful with your weight loss journey, when your fighting loneliness? I deal with bouts of loneliness myself, from time to time. When it hits, I fall off track, and turn back to what was common for me to seek comfort in: curled up on the coach, watching t.v., and munching on junk.  I re-gain some, if not all, of the weight I lost. Then the cloud of defeat overcomes me, again I am alone, no one cares, and I am unwilling to start back on my weight loss journey immediately. Finally, I have a long drawn out pity party, that makes it even harder to start back up again.

Don't let loneliness jeopardize your weight loss goals. Loneliness creates a vicious cycle, that can be avoided. The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone. This site proves that there are many others who face the same challenges as you. Support groups are fundamental to success. Whether it's a formal fee-based group established by an organization, free public/private groups, or a group of family and friends, being around others helps keeps the loneliness away.

Don't like to be in a group setting, feel to shy, or can't find a group of interest?  You can still fight against loneliness.

For those who don't like to be in group settings, strive for solitude. It is simply mind over matter. Solitude is being at peace with being by yourself.  It is important to change your perspective. You are not alone, when it comes to the types of challenges you face. You willing choose, with a sound mind, and soul, to go through the journey on your own. Think of it as walking along a trail by yourself, and there are groups of others with the same objective as you, out and about at the same trail.

If you're shy, or can't find a group of interest. Take small steps into a group. One or two people. Try starting your own group, that focuses on creating smaller sub-groups.  Do it your way--just get out there and be around others who share the same objective--too loose weight.

I started my own group, calling for those who live in the same area, to come and join me on a walking journey. I may not have a big following. I am greatly appreciative to all those who read my posts, and the ones who took a step forward and joined.
