My name is Laurel, and I am 50 years old.  I feel I am heading on the road to diabetes, high cholesterol and all the obesity-related diseases.  I have been overweight all my life, with many attempts at losing weight only to regain it all again, plus more.  I would like to give myself the gift of health for my middle to old age!  I have a young child and would like to be around to see her grow middle-aged!   I am looking into having VSG and I am researching surgeons and hospitals.  I first considered a LAP band, but I live a long way from anywhere where I can receive follow-up.  I will be self-paying, so insurance is not an issue.  I am very excited to be on this journey!
