My story is much like yours, and yours, and yours.  There will be some variations in our stories, but each of us have a story about sadness, pain, loss, and suffering which brought us to WLS.

I have a story to tell..... and it's not about me.

It's about my little girl, Ashley!  Who's not so little anymore.

My daughter is one of the most loving and giving people I have ever met in my life.  I saw the love in her eyes the first time I gazed upon her face.  She has brought so much joy to my life.  As a little girl she was always there with me, through the good and bad.  Always waiting, with a kind word, incouragement, and belief in ME!  She has always been my brave little girl, and willing to help others when she could.  Ashley was the one who always stopped to help the little fellow who fell down, back to his feet and brushed him off.  She was a friend to the little girl that was always teased and cried on the play ground.  When she was in grade school she was the star of the school programs, out going and talented.  So full of love, laughter, and life.  Ashely, is so intelligent.  She always made great grades and ranked in the upper 99 percentile nationwide.  Ashely was a child any mother would be proud of.

But Ashley and I have a secret.

Ashley is a drug addict.  Ashley is 24 years old now, and has been in and out of rehabs and prison since the age of 15.  She is a mother's dream come true and a mother's worst nightmare.

She is a mother of two very wonderful little boy's and an expected mother of her own little girl.  Let us not for get our little Heaven Lee who went to Heaven last June.

Ashley's boys have been adopted by a very loving family member, and she has tried to get her life back on track.  But just like "us" and our fad diets, she has failed once again.

Ashley is once again in rehab.

Ashley is a METH addict and I love her so much it hurts.

One Mother's Day about 11 years ago, before Ashley found her addiction (METH) and I mine (FOOD), she and I spent a memorable day together.  A day like many days before.  We went shopping, had lunch and even had our picture taken at one of those Glamor Shot places.

Ashley this is for you....perhaps if I beat my demons you will yours.
