Ready to show this 2 week liquid diet who's BOSS

Apr 28, 2013

So the time has finally come, seem like just the other day I had 70+ days on my count down until surgery and now it is down to just 14 days and we all know what that means.....DUN DUN DUN!!

It's liquid fast time!

I'm not so sure how I feel about this...scared, excited, happy, anxious, a little of all of this. I have gotten all of my protein powder, crystal light, decaf coffee, skim milk, jell-o, yogurt, sugar free popsicles, low fat soups, sugar free gum and hard candy. I also picked up a single blender and a few shaker bottles. I have decided on a chewable vitamin that my surgeons office offers and will pick them up on my lunch tomorrow. I also have some blood work to get done this week and need to pick up all of the stuff for my colon prep {YuCk}!

I think I am the most scared of feeling sick and not having any energy.....good thing I have card making to keep my hands busy in the evening

hmmm guess that's all for now, wish me luck!

More ready then ever!

Oct 13, 2012

I'm back!! I have never felt more like I am heading down the right road!
Tons has changed in my life....we sold our house and moved in with my father in law after my mother in law passed away, I started a new job at a pediatrics office Monday - Friday 8-5!! yahoo no nights or weekends! My husband also started a new first shift job so we finally have some much needed family time. Our son Dylan is loving his new school and is in 3rd grade already. With all that being said life is going good and I am completely ready to start my new journey to a healthy me!! We have new insurance that does not require me to do any supervised diet I have done my blood work, consult, nutrition class and  psych evaluation and have an EGD on 11/16........then all my paper work gets sent to the insurance company. I would say things are moving along at a high rate of speed and so far so good with NO speed bumps! Or maybe its just that I'm so committed to this that the small stuff that would have made me give up before no longer phases me. I have learned to let go and let god so to speak

The good, The bad, and the Brain dead??

Mar 02, 2011

Just a forewarning, this is going to be long and may not make much sense but I'm pretty sure my head is going to roll off my shoulders due to confusion and frustration!

Buckle up and hold on this WILL be one heck of a blog

After my phone calls last week to the surgeon's office I thought I may have been getting somewhere, but after another long week of not hearing from them about an appointment I decided to call them AGAIN! The women I spoke with said she had not ever seen my chart, but if I knew what my insurance company wanted me to do that she would set me up for an appointment. The soonest they had with the dietitian was March 16th so I took it. She then told me that I would have to pay $70.00 for the visit upfront and then "try" to get reimbursed from my insurance company. (whatever I don't have I just want to get the ball rolling)
After hanging up with her I decided to call my insurance company to first find out if I had coverage for nutritionist or dietitians and also to verify precisely what they are looking for in a 6 month supervised diet. This is where my patients and brain to mouth filter were tested to the MAX!!!!!

The rep for United Healthcare that picked up my call was...hmmm shall we say brain dead! I had to repeat about 4 times what my questions were and then she reads back to me what I already had in front of me....MY POLICY which was of know help and said at the bottom of it to call for clarification or questions. So I'm still not to sure what my 6 month supervised diet/weight loss attempt needs to consist of or look like on paper but I will be calling for an appointment tomorrow with my family Doctor to see if she is willing to help me through the dense fog that is called "trying to get wls".

On a more positive side note, I got all my lab work back today and the only thing wrong is that I am vitamin D deficient so I need to take 10,000iu a day.

If anyone has had to deal with United Healthcare and has any tips PLEASE feel free to share them with me

Frustrated and ready to get this show on the road!

Feb 23, 2011

So after not hearing from the doctors office like they said I would when I left my internist visit I decide I will call them, the outcome is I'm frustrated!!!

I went into this process knowing that I had to complete a 6 month diet and exercise program before I could submit all of my paperwork to the insurance company for approval. When I call the doctors office today first they could not find my chart and thought that maybe it had gotten left at the new satellite office where I had my internist appointment the women said she would look into it and call me back before the day was over. She called back about 20 minutes later (I missed the call and it went to voice mail) she said that because I have a BMI of over 50 that BLUE CARE NETWORK did not require me to do any sort of supervised diet and that she would have another women call me to set up an appointment with the surgeon and behaviorist........................Problem...........I have UNITED HEALTHCARE!!!! Gahhhhh!!

At this point I'm a bit concerned that they don't have their ducks in a row, so I call back and leave her a message regarding the insurance mix up and ask her to call me. Now the insurance is figured out but I have to wait until April for my first appointment which turns my 6 months into 8!!

Sorry for all that, I just really really want to get a move on so that I get to the part where I LIVE my life instead of it living me.

Looking for some ideas

Feb 20, 2011

Here is my dilemma......

I work at an Urgent Care Center that sees on average 40 to 50 patients per day, I work 6 days a week 10.5 hour shifts. I'm finding it very hard to eat healthy while at work, we don't get scheduled break or lunch periods so you just grab what you can when you can. I'm looking for any ideas on snacks, meals or even shakes that will keep you full but not kill your diet!!

Feelings after meeting with the Internist

Feb 09, 2011

I'm not real sure how I feel after this appointment. Oh wait a few feelings come to mind....scared, alone, lost, frustrated, FATTTTTTTT!!!!

pheeewww now that that's out of the way

Over all everyone at the noch extension of Grand Health Partners was great. I have to have a sleep study and some blood work, start some counseling for grief, and also start a physician supervised diet and exercise program for the next 6 months. I will be able to see the surgeon at the 4 month mark, I guess its going to be a longer road than expected.

The first appointment......kinda scared

Feb 08, 2011

Well tomorrow is the day, I have an appointment with the internist at 10 am. I'm not really sure what to expect at this appointment  but I have started to write out some questions that I have already. From what I understand it will be a total medical history and then they will decied what other tests and work ups I may need before I see the doctor. The first step to a new me....a happy health me!!
