5 months post op

Mar 09, 2009

Wow - I haven't been on here forever.

My update is at 5 months I am 70lbs lighter! I was so happy to get under the 300lb mark!!!!! Food, protein & eating I still struggle with. I have to track to make sure I am getting my protein in. When eating out I very rarely order my own food and if I do it's an ala carte item. I had to have surgery on my knee and this put me back a little on being able to exercise. I hope my surgeon is happy with my WL when I see him at 6 months post op.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about myself or my surgeon!

Almost been 2 months....

Dec 01, 2008

I have been kinda MIA lately. Sorry! Well let's see if I can think of what all have been going on. In 6 days I will be 2 months out and I will come back & post my loss. My WL has really slowed though. I had a stall forever. Now it seems like I am only losing less than 2 lbs a week if that. I am not exercising as I have been having problems with my knee which I will be having an MRI this week to see if there is any damage or if it's just weight related. But so far my WL is close to 45lbs. That is 2 week liquid diet to last weeks WI.

Life has been proving to be difficult for me. I got laid off for the first time in my entire life. So it's sucky now so close to Christmas & trying to figure out how to pay our bills this month.  I am feeling a little blue about it all. I am gonna get myself back to the Y to do something that will make myself feel good about myself again. Hope this works. I guess if I can't work then I will just spend my time exercising. It kinda is a good thing if only I was getting paid too! LOL

So that is my update! Lots of thoughts & prayers that things will get better for my company & I will be back to work soon!!!

1 month post op

Nov 06, 2008

Today is my 1 month surgiversary. I have been in a stall for the last couple weeks but it seems over the last couple days the scale has finally got moving again.

I feel great! I have been adding a little exercise back in, not as much as I would like. I have an appt Monday with the dr about my knee. I have more energy. I have been able to handle most all foods I have tried to eat. I have only gotten sick a few times & it was because I ate too fast.

Now for the good news! I took all my measurements, pics & weight the day before I started my liquid diet. By my scale and my measurments I took I have lost 35.2 lbs and shed 35.5 inches off my body. I think this is totally amazing but I always wish for more but it will come. Had I not had the stall I keep thinking to myself.....jeesh what could I have lost. But I have to remember that it's a slow process and it will all come off. I am in no race with anyone else and my body will shed the lbs as it sees fit.

Lots of updates!

Oct 22, 2008

Well I just realized that I haven't updated my blog forever. I had my surgery on Oct 7th. I did wonderful. I had very little pain and was out of the hospital that Thursday. It has been interesting trying to learn how to eat again. I love my sleeve & loss so far!

2 week post op dr visit-

All went well. They are happy with my weight loss so far. By their scale I was down 21 lbs and by mine it's 32 but that is because I was 3 days into liquid diet before I saw them for my preop. They say I am doing great. My incisions look great.....they say. I have one ugly one where my drain was but they said it will get better very soon. I can't go back to water aerobics until after I see him 2 months post op....so 6 more weeks out because he wants to amke sure the incision sights are healed. My next appt is Dec 10th. I took my camera to get a pic with him for my scrapbook of my WLS journey too. He was happy to oblidge. He is just such a nice dr and I am so happy that I was fortunate enough to do this in my life with him & his staff. They are all wonderful.
So they are happy & I am happy and I now get to move to eating real foods again. I have to ease into eating before I go headfirst. So I move to Phase III and in 2 weeks I can move to phase IV. They said my color looked great & I looked awesome.   So that is the update! Thank you for your continued support!!

Approval

Aug 22, 2008

I haven't blogged for awhile so I guess I better update. I was on the most amazing vacation ever from 8/6-8/17. Glad to be home but then again I am very worn out. The thing I noticed was it was really hard to remember to take my meds while on vacation. Glad to be back on schedule with those. I think they will make me not feel so sluggish.

Ok so now the updates. I had my appt with the pulmo dr on the 20th. No sleep study ordered but I have to have a pulmo funtion test done. Waiting on that date & time to be scheduled.

Now the most exciting news of all. I got my approval letter in the mail yesterday! Yeah! So, all I have to do it get this PFT test done, pulmo submit clearance & then I am ready to schedule my surgery. They said it will most likely be the end of September or beginning of October. She said realistically more like October. But hey - if that is when it is then that is when it is meant to be. I am very excited though!

That's all the updates for now.

Appts today.....

Jul 15, 2008

OK, how come I haven't read how incredibly nasty the barium is? I read posts all the time and don't ever remember seeing it. No forwarning..........

Definition of Barium (in my eyes) -

White paint type mixture that the taste can't even be described. Feels like you are swallowing chalk and leaves a nice ring around your mouth of white chalk.........then when the test is being done you feel like you are in a washing machine trying to coat your stomache. LOL

That was truely an unforgettable experience! I to think that I will have to do this again. I gagged after ever big mouth full. I could never chug anything. So big mouth fulls that I have to swallow 5 times for each mouthful.

Oh, then the machine froze up on me and it took them 1/2 hour & 4 reboots to get it going again. Thank god it was before the barium when in my mouth. I really thought I was gonna vomit but I didn't!

So all my testing is done on my end. Had upper GI, sonogram, bloodwork & EKG today. Now, just waiting to get my appts for the phych, dietician, exercise, pulmo drs then I will be in the clear!
