So now i am officially 5 months post op.  I have to tell you, i feel awesome.  I have never felt this way in my life.  My lungs are clear (9 year non smoker), the weight is coming off (albeit slowly) and i feel just great.  My only regret??  That i didn't do this earlier but i figure i had so many things to learn i probably wasn't ready 5 years ago.

Since my surgery I have been pretty much following my recommended diet.  Although my surgeons office wanted me to eat 3 meals a day with no snacks, i totally have blown that off.  I eat 3 meals a day but normally i do have a snack in the evening as this was always my hungry time.  I also have snacks on breaks at work just to make sure i am fulfilled and won't get sick.  Normal meals for me are Breakfast: Oatmeal made with 1/2 water and 1/2 milk and about a 1/2 tbl of splenda br. sugar.  Lunch:  Lean Cuisine, or chicken breast, or chef salad, eggs, and usually a vegetable.  Dinner: Always a meat of some sort and a vegetable plus maybe a bit of potatoes or rice.  Depending on the meal.  I have almost, but not totally, eliminated most refined carbs from my diet.  I do not eat much for the white food groups i try to stick to the browns.  Brown bread, brown rice, and i dont' eat to much pasta.  In fact i have had very little pasta since surgery.  My snacks are usually multigrain crackers (4) and some lo fat co jack cheese, or cottage cheese sometimes with some sugar free peaches, or nuts or yogurt.  I have recently found nuts and incorporated them into my diet.  I have also been making my own bread and yogurt.  I love chicken so i am constantly looking for chicken recipes.  I have NO food problems at all accept i have had food stuck 3 times.  What does this feel like?  I think i am super hungry, eat meats (usually leftover chicken) to fast, its drier than normal and this all makes it difficult.  I feel like something is stuck in my chest kind of, saliva kind of runs back up to my mouth,  i get a panicky feeling, i need to burp a lot and feel like i need to vomit but i do not have a stomach ache and i am not naseaus.  usually if i burp and burp and burp i feel better but it usually takes a good 20 - 30 minutes to work its way through.   I am n ot a dumper but i DID have one instance at work where i got sick.  I had a small piece of pumpkin roll and a piece of fresh fruit at work.  Literally the day before i had a piece of pumpkin roll and had no problems.  Come to think of it, this DID happen twice to me and both times i had previously eaten honeydew.  HHHMMMM i love honeydew.  Anyways, my heart starts beating really fast, my God i feel like i am dying, I have to go to the bathroom, i get dizzy and feel a bit sick.  Both times it lasted about 20 to 30 minutes and then i slowly felt better.  Those have been my only problems.  I am losing weight..86 lbs in 5 months.  Its not falling off me but it IS coming off.  I have nothing but time.  I didn't put it on overnight i doubt i will take it off overnight.  I do a lot of walking, standing and moving at work so i don't  exercise near as often as i should.

Vitamins i take:  Multi vitamin generic CENTRUM SILVER from SAMS Club.  Its fairly small for a multi and goes down easily.  I try really hard to take 2 a day but most of the time i only take one.

Vitamin B12 Natures Bounty from CVS.  Sublingual and very good tasting and dissolves almost immediately.  I take these Friday - Monday.

Vitamin D3 Sublingual.  I take this daily.  5000mcg.  I get it from Amazon and its called Michaels.  Its also good tasting but doesn't melt near as fast as my B12.

Calcium Chews Raspberry, Carmel, & Chocolate from Bariatric Choice.  And sometimes i get Calcet chews.

I take carbonyl iron 2 tablets a day with a 500 mg vitamin C.  It has Vitamin K in it too i do believe.  I have to admit i have a tough time taking the iron but i try to take at least 1 a night before bed.

I hope to lose another 60 lbs and then the fight will begin.  I already know i have to watch my grazing.  I have to drink between meals or i will get hungry.  I really don't have an appetite but i do feel hungry (or i sort of have an empty feeling in my pouch) if i am not drinking liquids.  I drink lots of tea both black and green tea throughout the day and some Propel and Aquafina Flavorsplash.  Drinking lots of fluids throughout the day is my secret to losing weight.

So far this has been an awesome journey and i hope you all have as good luck as me.
