My Journey started more than a year ago. I went to a weight lose seminar to learn more about the surgery. After months of following my insurances and doctors requirements I was approved in July and scheduled for surgery on August 25, 2008. My weight before surgery is 244.
9/16/08 - I am now 3 weeks post op. I have lost 24lbs and now weigh 220. I still have a pain in my stomach area and I had thrush shortly after coming home from the hospital. I believe it has cleared up and will find out for sure at my doctors appointment tomorrow. I think I made the right choice to have the surgery but and still trying to work through the mental and emotional stuff that comes with the loss of food as a comfort and emotional crutch. I will write again next week with an update.
10/21/08 - OK have not updated as soon as I thought I would. I am now almost 8 weeks post op. I have lost 40lbs and weigh 204. I had a incision infection at 4 weeks out and ended up with a couple of rounds of antibiotics. That I must say was not fun! I had my 6 week check up on 10/8 and was happy with a 35lb loss unfortunately since then I have only lost 5lbs in 2 weeks! I have been scouring the Internet to make sure that I am not alone because I have not lost any weight in the last 6 days. I know, I know, I shouldn't be weighing myself every day but it is like an addiction I cant seem to stop myself. I am a bit worry that I am eating too much. It seems as if I can eat about 3 ounces of food and not be overly stuffed. I don't think that is normal at this stage! I am struggling not to feel like I am failing at this WL thing. I am happy to report that I feel great physically and I was able to jog continuously for an entire block - which is a big accomplishment for me!
11/19/08 - Darn me for taking so long to update! I am now 3 months post op. I have lost 52lbs and weigh 192. It have been slow going for my weight loss, it seems the scale is stuck for days and days and then it will give up a pound or two and then is stuck again. I have my 3 month check up tomorrow so wish me luck! I wanted to write a lot more but am at work and in a time crunch so I will go.
11/20/05 - OK lets try again now that I have a bit more time. I canceled by 3 month check up for today and had to reschedule for 12/9 because my primary doctor messed up my blood work and now I have to have it redone. Let me tell you I was one unhappy camper when they called me yesterday to tell me. Then of course the soonest my surgeons office can get me in is 3 weeks later. I must say having one of the very best surgeons in the Denver area can be a real pain sometimes! Oh well enough ranting for now. So I still feel as though I may be eating too much. I think I will start to measure my food again, for a while I have been "eyeballing" how much I should eat but I think that is why I am not losing weigh consistently. I also have been working very hard on getting my water intake up. Right now I get about 55 - 65 oz a day of water but I think I need to do more. I have had this weird pain on the left side of my stomach area but I can not find any info on what it could be as I have already had my gallbladder removed years ago. My primary doctor said not to worry unless the pain gets worse or more frequent. Isn't that great! Other than those small problems everything is going great I am happy with my weight loss though I would like it to be more, I try hard not to compare myself to others on OH but it is hard when some people with the same starting weight have lost much more than me. I think I will post my measurement next time as I have been keeping track of them. I will also try to keep track of what I am eating and post a few day worth. Goodbye for now.
12/19/08 Well another month gone by. I am almost 4 months post op. I have lost 65lbs and now weigh 179. All I can say Woooo whooo! OK so I have no complaints at this time. I am loving life and enjoying being a close to normal size. I feel great and am able to do many things I couldn't before. The most unusual thing is trying to adjust to people looking me in the eye. I had forgotten what is was like to be hit on and it took me a few minutes to realize it when a guy at the grocery store kept looking over at me and smiling. I thought to myself do I know him? Did we work together before or does he go to my Church? Then it hit me that he doesn't see a obese girl, he sees a pretty decent look gal! That is a huge adjustment! Well I hope all of you are enjoying the ride as much as I am. Good luck and Merry Christmas. I will write again in the New Year.
4/2/09 OK so I haven't wrote in forever and a day. Sorry! Life has been busy. I am now 6 1/2 months post op. I have lost 87lbs and now weight 156. I was shopping the other day (my new favorite thing to do!) and tried on a size 10 pants and what do you know it fit! Now granted it didn't fit very well, I need to lose another 5lbs or so for it to be comfortable but it was awesome to know it fit. My best-est friend in the whole world has started the process to have WL surgery, she has been lucky so far and it has only taken about a month or so and they are thinking her surgery will be in the beginning of May so 3 months for the whole process. I am so happy for her and cant wait to see the changes. Well that is all I have for now. I will try to write more frequently!!
