this is me (will keep working on this)

Hi

I am from Australia. I have battled 'fat' for over 30 years. I am currently 43.

I was pretty active as a kid and teen. Discovered junk food when I started high school and then when I got a job I spent money on it.I was always picked on by family for being 'chubby' whilst they passed me some cake or choc. Looking back I wasn't fat, I developed earlyand was fit and healthy. When I was about 16 I got up to 65kg, went to a dietician got down to 57kg.

I remember gaining weight and when I was 18 weighed 86kg. In 1994 age 23 went to Jenny craig weighed in around 90 and got down to mid 70s.I havae tried weight watchers, lots of online and book diets. Got up to about 103kg in 2000 age 29, believe it or not I had a flat tummy.I got married weighing 113kg in 2001. The highest I think I got to was 130kg.

I got preggers in 2005 and was so sick I lost 25kg and was down to 103kg when baby was born. Gained some weight so back to 111kg approx. and found a greatsupport group and got back down to 101kg. Hubby died in early 2007 and weight crept back on, ended up around 119kg.

Mid 2010 I saw a friend who looked fab, we had constantly struggled with weight. She told me about the gastric sleeve so I looked into it. She said she couldn't eat heaps.A year later I was depressed and at the dr clinic I was talking to the nurse who told me she had the sleeve. She gave me her surgeons details and arranged a referral.I didn't have the right insurance cover so had to wait 12mths for new cover. It gave me time to get as ready as I could.

March 2012 met with surgeon weighing about 116kg. Surgery booked for late June. I weighed about 106kg for surgery 29 June 2012. I woke up barely breathing because I had a hiatus hernia repaired at the same time. My asthma played up, it got better though. I couldn't wee for days so had to have a tube to help me. I suck on ice for a few days as anything else just hurt. Was in for 4 days. Got home and a few days later had to get anti-biotics for an infection on a laproscopy site.

Managed to lose a decent amount of weight. Have shopped for clothes at op shops and sales. Could walk for ages instead of a few minutes. Could actually do a lot of gardening and not get puffed. so many great things.

Weight went down to 74kg last Oct and up to 78kg by March this year. A few weeks ago I was 83kg. so depressed and feeling like a failure.

I went back to my surgeon (he is a GI and Bariatric one). I told him what is happening and he said we need to look at medical reasons first. A few days later I had a barium swallow and it showed a hiatus hernia. I am now having a endoscopy coming up net week. We have discussed a RNY to help with the reflux I get, among other problems re digestion. I have divictistis (spelling?), found out last year after a colonscopy.
