2 Weeks Post

The surgery went well.  I stayed at the hospital overnight mostly to make sure the pain meds wouldn't make me nauseous.  I had a fantastic nurse who was really really nice and I walked down the hall to see the newborn babies a couple times.  I didn't really have much pain after I got home and only took my pain meds the first 2 days.  The hardest part so far has been getting med crushed meds down without gagging.  Hopefully I wont need them too much longer.  Blood pressure is on the low side and blood sugar is down some already.  About 4 days after the surgery I figured out I could have some Jello and let me tell you it was the best Jello I have ever eaten - hahahaha.  Today I am looking forward to some mashed potatoes and yogurt.  I am so sick of popsicles....LOL.  Going back to the gym and walk on the treadmill today too.  The only pain I am having is from a pulled muscle in my left side from before the surgery.  I must have aggrivated it again.  Other than that I am doing well and on the road to becoming less of me :)

Second meeting with Dr. Naziri

May 28, 2008

Met again today after we both had done some extra research and I am having the lap band surgery on June 24.  Now I can get excited.  I had almost given up hope but it looks like everything will work out.  There is power in prayer - thats for sure!

We finally met with Dr. Naziri last Friday morning.  We talked for a while and he seemed surprised to find out I had Hepatitus C, even though I put it on the first set of forms I filled out when beginning this process.  Anyway he is concerned that having the RNY will cause my liver to get worse.  His concern with the lap band is the same.  He is also concerned that I may have portal hypertension with means my veins around stomach, liver, spleen could be very large and could easily be punctured during the surgery.  He told me to give him some time to do some research, and come back in 3 weeks.  I am pretty much feeling that neither surgery will be an option for me.
