4 1/2 months...80 pounds down!!!

Apr 02, 2009

I am really bad at blogging...obviously. I just wanted to make myself take a minute today to share because I am just soooo happy. Since November I have lost a total of 80 pounds and have gone from a size 24 to an 18! It feels so good to be back in an 18 especially knowing that I won't be in them for long (only going the right direction this time). I still haven't started exercising yet but I will ....I promise. I have so much more energy now and I feel so much better about myself. I love all of the comments and attention that I get because everyone can tell what a difference this has made. I am doing pretty good getting in my water, protein and vitamins. I can still work on that a little but I am doing good none the less. I am so glad that I made the decision to have this procedure and my only regret is that I didn't do it years ago!

1 month and counting....

Dec 16, 2008

Well, yesterday was my one month surgiversary. I have lost 30 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. It was very cool for the first few weeks watching a pound or two fall off everyday. Then the mushies started and it STOPPED! I haven't lost a pound in a little over a week. They say that this is normal and my body will adjust to food and I will be losing again soon so I am trying to be patient. My stomach muscles are still a little sore and i can finally wear my jeans as long as I dont need to bend over (it kills). Everyday is trial and error but I am learning from my mistakes and it is getting easier. I am  curious how I will do over Christmas but I am sure I will do fine. The main thing I need to do now is focus on my vitamins, protein and water....oh and a little exercise wouldn't hurt.

Will this pain ever stop.......

Nov 23, 2008

Well.....it finally happened! I hadmy surgery 11/17/08. Everything went fine and I got to come home the next day. I was super sore but just slept a lot when I got home. That first night home I noticed that the hand my IV was in was extremely swollen and sore halfway up my forearm. I called Dr G's office and they suggested that I go to the ER. The ER said that I had cellulitis in my hand and put me on antibiotics. After a couple of days my hand is fine. The first few days being home I was soooooooo sore. Trying to get up and down hurt so bad! It is day 6 and it is getting better but still very sore! I jus wonder how long till I am back to normal.......

My visit with the cardiologist....

Oct 01, 2008

I had my visit with Dr. Dobratz (the cardiologist) yesterday. First they hooked me up to a heart monitor and printed out a bunch of squigly lines and unhooked me. Then they hooked me up again and I had to walk on a treadmill for a while (funny how a few minutes is a long time when you are 130 pounds overwight) and printed out some more squigly lines. The doctor came in and listened to my chest and asked me if I ever took Phen-Fen. Of course...didn't every female of the 90's? Anyway, he said that he heard a murr-murr and wanted me to come back in for an ultrasound so he could have a look at it. He did give me clearance for surgery so I am still on track for my Oct. 23rd surgery date. Yeah! Oh..and since I have quit smoking I have gained 15 pounds! AGH! 3 more weeks...I can't believe it is almost here!

The date is set....

My first post...

Aug 14, 2008

Hi. My name is Lorna.  This is how far I come in my journey so far:

5/16/08 - 1st appointment with Dr. Gorospe
5/21/08 - Started 90 day Hillcrest WL program
6/27/08 - 1st psychiatric appointment
6/27/08 - 1st sleep study
7/19/08 - 2nd sleep study
7/31/08 - 2nd psychiatric appointment

Anquisa (from Gorospe's office) contacted me last week because she hadn't recieved some of my medical records yet and my 90 day requirement for Aetna is almost over (Yeah!). So I guess the beginning of next month they will be able to submit it to my insurance for approval. I am so confident and so nervouse at the same time. It has already cost me a fortune between the Hillcrest program, 2 sleep studies, a c-pap machine and Gorospes up font money. I just have this fear that after I have gone through all of this Aetna will find a reason to deny me...Agh!
