Boy, it's been a while...

Apr 02, 2008

...my surgery was over 3 months ago.  I'm down 60+ lbs. and feeling great.  Getting rid of clothes by the bag full and just doing really well.  For the most part.

Wrestlemania was this past weekend, and while I did NOT get all of the results I wanted - it was a great show and they really outdid themselves with the pyros and fireworks.  It was incredible being in an outside stadium with 73,000+ fans who are just like you.

Orlando is NOT a friendly city if you're doing things that don't involve the resorts and big attractions.  That being said, the weather cooperated and we got to see all the guys we wanted to.  I felt so happy having my pictures taken with the wrestlers and actually looking smaller (and feeling smaller) than they were.  Coming home on the plane and having a fellow passenger want her son to trade seats with her because I'm "tiny" was a great feeling, one I haven't had in a really long time.

Samoa Joe walked right past us and was leaving TGIFriday's as we were going in.  Santino Marella was in out autograph room on Saturday.  We got to see the Rock at the Hall of Fame ceremony.  Triple H was on stage for a long, long time honoring that old windbag Ric Flair (who apparently is close to God-like in the wrestling world).  John Cena did the WWE proud, but as usual his haters and detractors behaved badly.  He is one truly classy individual.  Not to mention gorgeous.

I got to see the Undertaker go 16-0 at Wrestlemania, which thrilled me.  We leave a year from tomorrow for Wrestlemania 25 in Houston.  Needless to say, I cannot wait!  Triple H can't possibly lose again, can he?

Changed my mind...

Dec 23, 2007

...because I am so hungry - now I actually like (or at the very least, can tolerate) yogurt and vanilla protein shakes!

Started the dreaded pre-op liquid diet...

Dec 22, 2007

...and so far it hasn't been too bad.  I've had my Adkins Advantage Protein Drinks and Slim Fast too (I have decided that I hate, hate, hate the vanilla ones).  Yesterday at work I drank decaffeinated iced tea and had ministrone soup (well, really just the broth).  Went out to dinner last night and again had iced tea and broth from some kind of southwestern-something soup.  It was good.  Honestly I didn't feel too deprived eating the "stuff" in it.  Filling in here and there with small portions of cream of wheat, and yogurt (also found that I hate, hate, hate peach yogurt).

I am looking forward to all of the fun things involving the holidays.  I think this is the year that I will realize that Christmas isn't about the food.  If I don't realize it this year, I don't know when I would!  And I am looking forward to our New Year's Eve party.  Wrestling will be on that night, and HHH will be in a match.  I'm anticipating he loses since it's against Ric Flair, but that's ok.  The best night of the year to be a WWE fan is Christmas Eve when they go to Iraq and visit the troops and perform an entire Raw show.  Makes me very, very proud to be a wrestling fan (not that I would ever, EVER be ashamed).

Two weeks from today...

Dec 12, 2007

...it will all be over, and I will officially be a "DS'er."  I couldn't be happier.  Tomorrow I will be going in for a Nutrition Consultation, a Pre-op Testing Appointment and Pre-Admission Testing.  And a week from Friday I will begin my liquid diet.

We are having a Christmas Dinner this weekend at my sister's house, since I won't be able to really eat on Christmas.  I don't mind at all.  I think that's been my problem all along - equating food with holidays (or any special occasion).  The things that have made me happy in my life are what I've done and who I've been with, not what I've eaten during those times.  Best time I've had in 2007 was at Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit, and the only thing I had in the 4+ hours of that show was a $9.00 beer.  For that cost, no wonder I made it last for the entire night!

I have been APPROVED!!!!!

Nov 16, 2007

I have been approved, and I couldn't be happier!  The doctor's office has two dates - either 12/18 or 12/26.  Either one is fine with me.

My endo went well on Thursday - fast, easy and no complications.  I was out of there quickly and onto lunch with my sister.

Hooray!

We're getting there...

Oct 02, 2007

I have just about everything done for my meeting with the Surgeon on 10/19.  Just the visit with the Psychiatrist this Friday and an EKG and a Respiratory Test.

I am not the least bit nervous about anything having to do with this WLS.  I don't know if I will once I get closer (and get an actual date) but I don't think so.  I want this, it's a step in a positive direction and I am very excited.

BUT...

I just get HHH back in August and now I'm missing John Cena - for six to eight months!  Ugh, why me, why us WWE fans?

Come back soon, John - we miss you already.

My first Support Group meeting...

Aug 21, 2007

..it was wonderful.  What a great inspiration these people are!  Everyone seems so happy with the decisions they've made.  I am sure I am going to feel the same way they do.

It's strange though - I don't think I'm going to feel as though I've got to justify myself or my decision to anyone.  If they think I am taking the easy way out, so be it.  I've learned that you are not going to change anyone's opinions with just a comment or two.  I will have the support of the people who mean the most to me, and those are the ones that truly matter.

I've been struggling for almost nine years to make people understand that it IS really ok for a grown woman to like professional wrestling!  And with what's gone on in the industry recently, that has not been easy.

I really want to look good in my pictures at Wrestlemania next year.  We are going to Orlando!

The ball's started rolling...

...and I'm very excited.  I met with Paula Beam, the RN at the WLS Center where I've decided to go.  Everything is looking great, and I am looking forward to the next few meetings and tests.  I just wish it didn't take so long between appointments, but I was expecting it to be this way.

And I'm excited, too - my nephew gets home next weekend after spending most of the summer in Wisconsin with his Dad.  AND - Triple H will be back in the ring next Sunday at Summerslam!  I cannot wait - it's been a long time since January 7th!
