Well it's been almost 4 months and I am down almost 50 lbs.  I need to update my pictures.  I will do that as soon as I get home.  My picutres are saved on my laptop at home.  It's been great, I've honestly had no complications...Thank God!! Although weight is coming off very slow, I guess that's ok as long as its coming off.  I do hit a lot of plateaus :(...any suggestions please?
I've been exercising more...walking and going to the gym.  I really would like to get a bike so that I can bike ride.  I would even like to start to jog, even run.  I think I am going to just push myself to do it.

So the day came...finally!  I had surgery on Tuesday, December 13th and thank God everything went well.  I do get very nauseous from anesthesia...which lasted a couple of days. I even had a headache from it. I couldn't even stomach anything cause it made me feel so nauseous.  It made me miserable! I wouldn't say major pain just a tremendous discomfort...especially when your belly is filled with all this air and you can't get it out. Low grades fever which they say is normal due to the trama your body has been put through.  I ended up staying an extra day because of it. Glad to come home!! With how uncomfortable I was feeling, i couldn't lay in my bed the first two nights. I've had since after the surgery a cough, that now it's driving me crazy!! This is why I'm up now. I called the surgeon on call and he said I sound ok, but if i'm worried it could be pneumonia I can come in to ER or I can continue to take the Tylenol with codine and that should suppress the cough so I can get some sleep.  I hate taking liquid medicine but I guess i will so I can get some zzzz.  Recovery has been rough, I even found myself saying why did i do this?  But as everyday goes by it gets better and better and I have all my faith in GOD that he will take care of everything...Thank you Jesus!!

Ok, so I was approved for Bariatric surgery but my insurance only covers the Band and RNY.  She did mention that in October my insurance will be reviewing the sleeve and may cover it but we will have to wait until beginning of November.  I have asked to have surgery December 13th and if they approve the sleeve then I want it but if not then I will have RNY. I pray they accept Sleeve because I really want that one.  In Jesus name!!  

I am so excited, I talked to Pat from my surgeons office yesterday and she said that the appeal was already submitted; that the surgeon had requested a video conference with the physicians at my insurance for TODAY...Yay!!  I am praying, "Lord if this is your will that it will get approved". Now back to the waiting game...urghh!!  

So I received a letter on Saturday that I was denied.  Seems that Capital Blue Cross doesn't accept the Gastric Sleeve.  There are still looking into this type of procedure...seems they don't have all the answers as to what the Gastric Sleeve is, I mean if they approve Gastric Bypass and that's more invasive then why not the Gastric Sleeve...Urgh!!

I spoke to the Dr office this morning and we are going to appeal it.  I need to gather more info from my PCP and send it back to them to submit to the insurance for the appeal. 

Has anyone been denied and had to appeal, if so, any suggestions on what I should do?

I'm waiting to hear if my insurance approves my surgery....Lord is this nerve wrecking!  I did get a letter from the surgeon's office that I needed medical clearance for the surgery, which hopefully is on Sept 13th and I was all exciting thinking it was approved but when I called they said not yet, this is part of the process that needs to happen so when they approve it, it's all ready to go!! Geez...I called the surgeon's office this week but the lady who is in charge of sending to the insurance is out this whole week, so on Monday I will call again.  I pray to God all goes through and I may have my surgery on Sept 13th...In the name of Jesus!!

Today the Surgeon's office will be sending all my stuff to insurance for approval...Lord please let this get approved!! In Jesus name!!

So last night I went to a weight loss support group meeting and it was very informative.  There were people that either had surgery or others that are waiting to have surgery.  Some talked of their experience and others asked a lot of question.  Very glad I went.  Plus that was all I needed to do to complete my three month program.  I did see the nutritionist there and I ended up talking to her for a bit and I asked if she knew if I went to review board and she said yes....that all went well and that I should be getting a call from the surgeon's office.  I'M SO EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!

Today I go to review board to see if I get approved through the Dr.s.  I'm excited and nervous! I hope and pray they understand how important this is to me and how much I've struggled with weight my entire life.  This to me is not the easy way out but a tool to help get you started correctly.  Will post when I find out if approved.  Until later...God bless!

I'm so happy and excited!! As long as everything goes ok and my insurance doesn't give the Dr's any problem...my surgery is set for September 13, 2011.
