A new day

Mar 17, 2010

Well here I go again....I finally went to get another fill and it was not as bad as I thought that it was going to be...Tamara was very understanding and encouraging.... and believe it or not she did not give me one of those "you should know better speech".  She was more like, "don't give up, we are here to help you and I want to see you succeed."  My weigh in at the dr. on March 9th was 332 and as of today I am down to 324...I am so glad I made the choice to get a fill,  I am finally feeling the restriction that I need but I could stand a little more....I am supposed to return the end of April for another .5cc and you best believe I will be there.....yeah!!!

one year and 2 wks post op

Mar 04, 2010

OK here goes....   i am very reluctant to write this post but I have to face the music....It has been one year since surgery and I have lost 62 pounds...One may say that's great but I beg to differ because I have not lost any weight since june 2009 as a matter of fact I have gained 10 pounds and it is partially my fault.  You see what happened was I have about 7cc in my band and still do not have much restriction...I can eat just about anything that I want including bread :(...although I do have major problems if I drink something before or after I eat.  My fault is that I got so discouraged too early in the process that I just stopped exercising and basically physically gave up but not mentally that is why I am posting this now.  I never went back to the dr for any more fills because I was embarrased of the wt gain (how stupid).  But I have made up in my mind that I have come to far to give up now so I am going to go back for another fill ,and another until I I get this right... I am going to get my butt out there and exercise...no questions asked.  I will be posting again soon but until then I have some fat to loose....PEACE

slow and steady

Jun 20, 2009

Hello Oh fam<  I know its been a minute since I posted I guess cause this wt loss is going soo slow  and yes I am part of the blame for it  (I admit)  I am scheduled for another fill on June 26,  that will put me @ 5.5 cc's.  As far as restriction I feel little, very little but when I eat too fast the food gets stuck in my chest (esophagus).  other than that all is well.  I have lost 69 pounds so far.  Yeah!!!  until next  time,  drop it like its hot (the weight of course)  lol

3rd fill/ lap band update

May 18, 2009

Good morning OH family, I know that it has been a while since I posted but I have been really busy with the struggles of every day life....On Friday 5/15/09 I had my third fill and now I have 5cc in a 9cc band.  As far as restriction goes I do have some but not as much as i would like.  I have lost 60 pounds thus far and I have been working out like crazy at least 4 days at the gym.  Because I have reached a plateau I had to change up my work out routine...I just started incorporating intervals into my work out routine,  we will see if it works as good as they say it does,  all I know is that I am sweating like crazy after wards..  well that's my update for now.  I am scheduled to have another fill of .5cc's in 6 weeks, so talk to you all then unless i drop 20 pounds b4 then,  then you will hear from me sooner lol

My second fill.

Apr 23, 2009

Last week on April 17Th was my second fill,  although it went well it did not go as good as my first fill.  I was filled with 1cc so now I have a total of 4 CC's in a 9cc band.  I am scheduled for may 15Th for my third fill of 1cc.  Everything is going fine,  I am loosing weight at a slow steady pace.  Last week I had slacked off on exercising but this week I have picked back up the pace,  and boy can I feel the difference.  Well I guess that's all for now,  I am just really looking forward to my third fill.

MY FIRST FILL

Mar 27, 2009

Today I went for my first fill and it was a breeze,  no problem.  All that I felt was a little pinch and in about 5 seconds it was all over.  I was given some water to drink and it went down fine.  i was placed on a twenty-four hour liquid diet so I am not sure of how much restriction I have at this point.  I was told to come back in 3 weeks for another fill of about 2cc's.  I have been very hungry lately and I was told that this would help tremendously.  Wewill see,  I will keep you all updated.  Happy Friday......

5 weeks post op update

Mar 17, 2009

General:  WOW,   I can not believe that it has been 5 weeks since I had my lap band surgery. Where has the time gone?  I can really say this has been an unique experience and a challenge.  Those people that say that bariatric surgery is the easy way out,  they are clueless.  I think it is more challenging because it forces you into accountability.
RECOVERY: Well, as far as my recovery goes,  my incisions have completely closed and healed.  The incision where my port is,  is healed but there is a stitch about an inch long that is sticking out of my skin,  my incision healed around it and there are no signs of infection so I decided to address this at my 6 week appointment next week.
DIET: The first two weeks after surgery was very awkward It was a time of  "finding myself"  or "feeling things out"  I think I pretty much know how to listen to my body when it comes to eating.  Head hunger -vs- the real thing.  I currently feel no restriction at all and I am hungry often (thank God for the protein shakes they help  a lot with this problem) but the sweet cravings are still there and stronger than ever.
FIRST FILL: Unfortunately I have to be 6 weeks post-op before I can get my first fill.  I wonder why some people can get their fills as soon as 2 weeks after and I have to wait 6 weeks?  I don't know.  I am excited and nervous about my fill but I guess I will be OK after I experience the first fill.  I hope I get a lot more restriction than I have now.
WEIGHT LOSS: So far I have lost 43 pounds about 24 of those I lost after surgery and about 19 before surgery.  I also go to the gym at least 4 times a week.    Friday I am going to try a new workout class,  belly dancing (picture that)  I will let you know how that goes)  Well that is all for now,  I will post more pictures next week on Thursday or Friday of me slowly deflating  LOL,  until then GOOD LOOSING!!!
