My Journey to Wellness..........  :o)

I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) 26 years ago at age 14.  It has been an uphill battle with my weight since then.  I was 135lbs as a freshman in high school and graduated at 220lbs thanks to PCOS.  I consider myself as a "poster child" for the syndrome as I have had EVERY horrible symptom associated with it.  Weight gain, cystic acne, excessive hair growth, no periods, infertility and lots of belly fat!  Ugh!  Kicking Dirt I tried all of the prescription treatments - BCP, Spironalctone, Metformin, Avandia - with no success.  I tried for over 5 years to get pregnant with my first hubby via lots of infertility drugs and AI and never conceived.  Then, by the grace of God, I unexpectedly was able to conceive with my current hubby, the good ol' fashioned way! LOL   Hearts And Kisses When I delivered my daughter via C-Section, my doctor did a wedge sectioning of both ovaries and I had some relief for over a year.  I miracuously conceived again 18 months later, but miscarried my twins.  Crying 1  Since then, the PCOS has been back with a vengance and my weight has maxed out in the high 290's.

In addition to the PCOS, I have high blood pressure, asthma, bad knees, neck problems and have had 2 back surgeries since 1990.  I am tired of being on meds and hurting all the time.  I hurt every minute of every hour of every day. I am so done with hurting - its time to get healthy!

My baby sister Krista is a member of this site. She had WLS last February and has had great success.  I am so proud of her! I made the decision after many conversations with her and consulting with my PCP, that it is time for me to have WLS surgery too.  I have done most of my testing and am awaiting my first consult with Dr. Pohl, which is May 22, 2008.

That's my story so far....  I am looking forward to a happy ending! The End
