Alamater

"I get tons of questions about my time in Mexicali. I think they are all more related to the hospital. We all know that Dr. Aceves and his team are top notch. That has never been disputed. They are very dedicated to the patients and super attentive. They want us to succeed. Now on to the the hospital. I am going to do my best to describe it very detailed because I always get asked about it. As soon as you pull up you can tell it is a high class. The front entry has a beautiful path up to the doors. They have not missed any details. It has beautiful earth tone tile the wrapping around the building. There is also the prettiest planter with 3 or 4 palm trees. As soon as you walk thru the double automatic doors you will see smiling faces of the Almater Staff. You will also notice there is someone their mopping. If she is not there at that moment she will be is a few minutes. I felt so guilty walking over paths where she had just mopped. I swear this hospital is so clean. They are mopping and wiping things down almost every half hour. And did I mention the floors. It is custom tiles. Not the little ones but huge travertine colored tiles. It compliments the waiting area so nicely. The sitting area on this side has a huge mirror and cherry wood sofa table surrounded by maroon colored chairs. There is also some local pottery. There is another sitting area near the lap. It boasts a gigantic plasma TV and some more local pottery! By this entrance there is another parking lot. Which has a lot attendant. There is also a person at this entrance to help get you to where you need to be. I was worried because my Spanish is really horrible. But they managed to find an English speaker to help me. The rooms are nicely decorated. It feel more like a hotel that a hospital. My room had a cute vanity and a huge shower . The water pressure was super. It was very modern. My friend that came with me stayed in my room with me. It was really nice to be able to keep your guest in the room with you. American hospitals send them home at night. My friend stayed on plush leather couch in the room. The nurses even made sure that she was taken care of. Where else would that happen??? We watched a CSI marathon. Who would of thought I would be able to watch and American show in English in Mexico??? The nurses made sure I was comfortable. They came into the room as soon as I pushed the little button. And then to my surprise. They brought me what I asked for with in minutes. Not like an American hospital. Those nurses make you wait FOREVER to get you a pill or even get to the room. All my nurses from the Almater were so great. Another thing is you don’t lose your dignity here. If you have ever been to a hospital in the states. They have the attitude of I have seen it all. I know they have but I am not comfortable being treated like another number. At Almater they respect you. And I was never in an uncomfortable situation. I was treated with respect. It was fun to try out my Spanish. And my nurse did not laugh at me. (God knows what I said..) LOL….. I have to say that I have never received better care at any American hospital EVER! I also have never seen a cleaner hospital. All the equipment is modern. And like I said the staff of the hospital is GREAT!!! I would trust my children’s life here. I am self pay. Which means I have NO Insurance. I would bring my children back here for care. They will be getting better quality care and I can bet it will be cheaper than the states. Like I said in the beginning. I could go on forever about Dr Aceves. He and his team are wonderful! He is a top quality kind of man. That is why I believe he choose a top notch hospital like, Almater! They are at top quality hospital!"
