2-weeks post-op and down 20 lbs!!

Feb 27, 2008

Finally hit the two week mark! It feels like its been forever and I know that I'm only on the start of my journey. I had my post-op appts with the doctor today and everything went great. My incisions are healed for the most part which means i can start swimming laps : ). I absolutely love swimming and I'm so excited I can finally start getting in my exercise that way as well! I'm also finally on pureed foods so hopefully it will be easier to get my protein in. I need to start being better about drinking my protein shakes and what not, I've been very good about my vitamins though. I'm really excited with the success I've had so far,  i was worried that I was going to be one of the those few people who WLS surgery didnt work for! But so far soo good, and I think I'm definitely having the right mentality about it. I realize that this is a lifestyle change, not jut a quick way to lose weight and it makes me so sad to see others that let themselves fail. One of my good friend's boyfriend's mothers had the surgery.. actually by the same doctor as me and at 4 months out she was eating smaller pieces of hamburger and PIE! I didnt even eat the freakin pie or burgers and opted for some chicken and this was months before my surgery! I'm glad that I recognized what she was doing was defnitley wrong otherwise I'd be worried about my future success. Anyways hope everyone is doing great!

One week post-op! YAYY

Feb 21, 2008

Hey everyone! So its officially been one week since my operation and I have to say that minus the bit of pain I'm in, I'm feeling great! I'm getting ready to go for a 2 mile walk in a little bit.. I cannot wait until I can hit the gym and get some real exercising in! I am so motivated now. Even though I've been overweight for a huge part of my life I've always really been into sports and working out, I've just always been discouraged because it seemed as though all my effort in the gym never really made that big of a difference. But now, combined with the surgery, I feel like i'll be able to recognize the results a lot quicker and that makes me just want to get it in there as much as possible! I had a couple questions for people.. I know everyone heals at their own rate but I was just wondering how long some of you waited before really working out. I konw i cant do any lifting yet but cardio wise? I have an elipitical machine downstairs that I was going to start using.. but I wanted to wait and do my walking regimen first before I got all ahead of myself. Also.. I'm on a full liquid diet right now but I've had a little bit of stringe cheese and some tuna and it went down fine! It didnt upset my stomach at all and no throwing up! : ) So did any of you start on some foods before your full liquid was supposed to be over? I feel like the doctors just say 2 weeks to make sure all precauctions are taken, but I also dont want to stupidly endanger myself so just lemme know! Thanks so much everyone for all your support! I cannot even begin to tell you how helpful it has been!

Does the pain go away soon?

Feb 19, 2008

Hey everyone! So I'm currently 5 days post-op! I got home from the hospital yesterday, and I'm feeling pretty good, minus the pain I'm in! I'm a little worried because I've been watching some videos on youtube and no one complains of being in pain! Maybe I'm a wuss... I guess everyone is just different, hopefully nothing is wrong! Anyway.. I'm sitting here with a hotpack on my stomach waiting for the next 20 minutes to pass so i can take my next tablespoon of LoraTab(SP?).
