Here is my story...............I am 55, mother of three beautiful young women ages 30, 29, and almost 28.; grandmother of 2 delightful little boys (#3 due this June); wife for almost 33 years to the best man on this earth. I was an only child, dearly loved and adored by my parents. We were not wealthy, however, I wanfed for nothing. Except for my birth (preemie) and few years in highschool and college, I have been very overweight. I gained 75 lbs. with first child and never lost it. For over 30 years, I have lost and gained. About five years ago, things in my life started fallng apart....actually it was me that was falling a part. My knees were giving way, hurting. Doc siad I had ro lose at leset 100 lbs. before having any surgery. I also started having severe back problems. In 1997, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (same as Micharl J. Fox). This diseease has greatly affected the way I move and feel. I am learning to live with Parkinson's. It is everything else that is going wrong with my body that is bringing me down. From 2001 to 2007, I have had six surgeries including brain surgrry for Parkinson's research. I am currently researching weight losa surgeries. I weigh approximatrly 300+ lbs. I am having much difficulty walking. Darling hubby has to help me dress, etc. I sincerely believe my morbid obesity is causing most of my problems. Parkinson's won't kill me, but my morbid obesity might. On Monday May 19, 2008, I have my first appointment with a bariatric surgeon. He only does Lap Band and RNY. I am looking forward to this meeting. So guess I am just starting the WLS journey. I will keep you all posted as to what choices I make.
