Well, it's about time for me to update in here. I finally figured out how to get my photo album posted....and decided I should probably update my blog, too. May will make 3 years since my surgery. I have maintained my weight at 240 for the last year and a half or so, but would still like to lose 40-50 lbs. I have decided I won't mind if I don't, but I should try to see if I can. I have fallen into some bad old habits....seems the brain didn't change with the surgery, imagine that! I can dump, but not all the time and it takes a LOT of sugar to make me sick. So, I have slipped often into having a candy bar, or brownie....or ice cream...and those calories add up. My biggest mistake (((NOTICE ALL YOU FIRST TIMERS READING THIS!))) was starting to drink soda again. I thought it was no big deal, since I only drank diet soda, but it makes a huge difference. I stopped about 2 weeks ago, and already notice I can feel my pouch again. I think the constant bubbly gas stretching at it made it much harder for me to 'listen' to the signs that I was full. I definitely was eating a lot more than I should have. Hopefully this will be a new start to get back on track with things.
So many changes....Since this surgery, I graduated with my Associates degree (medical assisting), found out I will be a Grandma in April, found out that walking is a pleasure, and I have found so MANY new friends here on the OH board, many who I have met because we meet at coffee on Saturday morning. I was just offered my first medical assisting job today, working at Park Nicollet Meadowbrook clinic, which thrills me, because it is part of Methodist Hospital where I had my surgery. I LOVE Park Nicollet, and I will be working in Pulmonolgy, which is where they work with lung problems-including sleep apnea, so I will be working with the sleep center also. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect job if I designed it myself. 3 years ago, I could not have seen myself doing a job like this. WLS made it possible for me to believe in myself and take charge of my life and do what I wanted to. I LOVE WLS!!
