If I could go back 7 years

Sep 22, 2012

And if I knew then what I know now...
I would have done the following,
1. I would have had the DS, Instead of RNY.
2. I would never have tested or tried to 'tolerate', alcohol, sugar, or white carbs...again. I would have not sipped or drank any liquids with my meals, ever again.
3. Whined to be 'normal'!( Eat whatever I want and stay skinny)
4. I would have started walking, every day, and stuck to it.
5. After surgery I would have worried less about protein, and calories and just focused on water and vitamins.
6. I wouldn't have stressed about my hair, I would concentrated on staying hydrated.
7. I would have had my first pannelectomy at my 100lb loss, to keep the loss in perspective and not dealt with body dysmorphia.
8. I would have not transferred my self medication with food to self medication of anything not healthy.
9. I would have started counseling six months before surgery and continued it..
10. I would have realized my anemia, hypothyroidism and super immune system would fight to keep me alive, think I was starving and ultimately adjust my metabolism. That once I trained my body to live on 3 cups of food a day, i can't ever eat more than that and not gain weight.

Having said all that...my 7 yr Anniversary is coming up the 29th of Sept. I had my surgery on the day of John Otts's funeral. I promised myself going in, I would not fail at this . I did, I have.
I started at 275 was down to 139. A year later...and over the last 6 I am back to 230. Sad. I have had a pannelectomy, breast surgery and had no complications. I now have a hernia, and stretched stoma from drinking liquids with my meals. I am seeking a revision. Because I can't live like this... Again. Good luck to you new ops, WLS graduates, and friends still giving and sharing here. My hope is for you to succeed.

every winter, seriously?

Feb 24, 2010

last year at this time my sons and I flew back to Nebraska to say good-bye to their grandfather. This year, same time, same place...and Derick's bday is this week. It is so hard to understand why we lost them all in February?! First their father 14 years ago, then Dad, then mom. They are all together now where I know they are rejoicing but we are sad and miss all of them. The funeral was nice and all the family there was nice. We drove through snow and snow storms to be there and flew through ice, rain and snow...but we made it. Now, we continue to live our lives and remember them. Hold those you love close to you while you have the chance. Because one day, they are no longer here. Hugs to all of those missing someone.

Moving right along...

Jan 11, 2010

It is fantastic to have both drains out and healing up nicely. =) I really feel great! I have alot of energy and a positive attitude which is great considering the overcast, foggy days we have going on here. I promised my mom and sisters I wouldn't complain since they are all in the midwest literally freezing. I just don't feel right whining about 50 degrees..lol. It's good to be back here on OH daily, checking in and hearing how everyone is getting along. It's really neat to see the support and understanding shared that so many don't have in RL. Have a great week!

and another week..

Jan 02, 2010

The new scales I bought are trying to butter me up again with showing me an 18lbs weight loss from 2 1/2 weeks ago. So, I won't be throwing it back out the door..just yet. :) I still have my left drain in and I am SOOO over it. It doesn't hurt, it's just a pain. =0)
Had a good New Year's Eve listening to our Uncle Herbie's band and being with good friends and family. There are little stressors going on but nothing too big. Hanging in there and taking one day at a time~ as always.

I still have 2 drains in draining a fair amount of fluid. My back is sore from being a little hunched over trying to protect my tummy from being sore. There is still alot of swelling. I have insomnia :) Merry Christmas OH, may all your wishes come true. ((hugs))

2 days out from small hernia repair and panniculectomy

Dec 18, 2009

I had surgery 10 minutes from my house with Dr. Skiles on wed December 16th, 2009. She is a no nonsense upfront qualified surgeon. I had insurance approval for the procedure and was in and out of surgery in 2 and half hours. She removed 8lbs of skin, pulling my skin down as tight as she could with one incision from hip to hip. I have no belly button after hearing it was safer, she could take more skin and my tummy would be flatter.. hubby and I decided that could be dealt with later if at all. I had a morphine pump in the hospital and stayed overnight. My iv gave me fits as usual, so now I am home with liquid vicodin. Seems to be managing fine and it working better than the morphine was. I have two drains and have become a pro at those. My son is doing a beautiful job of nursing me. Hubby went back to work today and then will be home for a few to take over. I am very happy with the job Dr. Skiles did with what I gave her to work with and what insurance would cover. Pictures to come soon.  Have a good one!

Apr 07, 2009

I'm getting kinda frustrated and maybe it's too early to be doing this. But I am obviously doing something wrong. Since I can't fit everything from the old profile to the new one..it cuts off My story January of 2006..I am going to take a coffee break and come back to it :)

My story section

Mar 28, 2009

So trying to convert oldstyle profile from 2004 to new 2009, It only let me fit in "MY STORY" till August of 2006- Trying to figure out how to post the " REST OF THE STORY". Hopefully I will be able to :) There's lots more in the last three years to tell..lol..Feeling great today. For the record, I am a coffee addict, a energy coffee drink addict, (lowest carb available)...and although I had about a 4 month lapse in taking my supplements religiously. I am back on track. My liquid calcium, my b12 sublinguals, my HIGH doses of iron, an iron infusion once in a while, monthly b12 shots, chia seeds ( look it up on the web), and still a 4 or 5 protein shakes a week ( atkins advantage..strawberry..yum) with just a couple carbs if any at all. I eat alot of meat. Chicken, beef jerky, fish ( salmon, sardines, crab, lobster) cheese, eggs ( LOVE eggs in everyway)..and fruits and veggies. Bannanas go fast in our house, and love peppers! lol.. and water.. water.. propel is still my fav.

Updates..

Mar 26, 2009

I finally gave in after two years and switched my old comfy profile cutely designed by OH staff into this new profile format. I hope I get everything transferred and not lose anything. I will try to add the old transformation photos and also add the new pictures fully clothed that show I have a cute curvy figure. The new "girls" are still swollen and haven't settled quite yet but they are getting there.. and the fit me. :) To everything there is a time and a place. I am the least patient person I know but I have learned AWESOME things come to those that are.. and take things one day at a time and that everything, everything truly happens for a reason. Pick your battles..:)
